CVM TV's Suits Scandal - Why Couch and Studio get Bigger as Torrenting and Streaming are King and Broadcasting Commission is powerless

Are you a watcher of Series shows, possibly via streaming via Netflix or Hulu using Proxies or VPN as described in my blog article entitled “How to find Free TV online and how to Stream from Hulu or Netflix in Jamaica - Jamaican Pirate of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides Streaming Restricted US Content”?

I am, as it gets really boring here in Milk River, Clarendon, what with the stifling heat and now the rains that have begun to fall. I’ll be returning back to Swallowfield in time to start MICO College University to get my Professional Diploma in Teaching, even as I boycott JUTC (Jamaica Urban Transit Company) as I’d promised in my blog article entitled “JUTC SmarterCard Rollout and Fare Hike Postponed – Why I'll be boycotting JUTC Buses anyway as they're not trying to Save Money”.

Back when I was in Swallowfield near the National Stadium and Stadium Gardens, I used to go down to Rollington Town and to Internet Cafes on Deanary Road in Upper and Lower Vineyard Town. Thus, my favourite Series shows to download are:

1.      American Horror Story
2.      Arrow
3.      Cosmos
4.      Dominion
5.      Game of Thrones
6.      Glee
7.      Gossip Girl
8.      Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
9.      The Big Bang Theory

One thing that all Milk River people have in common is that we all have a DVD Player or Laptop and we frequently purchase the latest Movies and Series shows that are out on Cable. We known this as many of us have relatives in Kingston as well as in May Pen who tell us what the latest shows are on Cable.

As you see, unlike the good Uptown Folks in Kingston that have FLOW Cable complaining about CVM TV taking Scandal and now Suits as stated in the article “'Scandal', 'Suits' complaints futile”, Published Wednesday August 20, 2014, The Jamaica Gleaner, we don’t even have basic cable.

Already, Suits has been blocked on USA, with Scandal to receive the same treatment on FLOW and other Cable Stations once the new season of Scandal starts. These changes in their Cable programming have resulted in these Uptown Folks in Kingston taking to venting on Social Media.

Some have taken to complaining to Executive Director of the Broadcasting Commission, Cordel Green, who in reality cannot do anything about it as they regulate Broadcasters, not their content, quote: “It is the people who own programmes who determine who they sell it to. There is nothing the Commission can do if a station acquires exclusive rights to carry content in Jamaica”.

Options to Cable in the Country – Torrenting is King as the Broadcasting Commission is powerless

The most we can do is download Videos from Video Hosting Websites such as YouTube using the Google Search Terms as described in my blog article entitled “How to download Music using Index Query in Google Search Engine - Google Search Engine sniffs out indexes loaded with Music”.

Alternately, you can also download Movies, Series shows as well as Music using Kickasstorrents and a suitable torrenting software as described in my blog article entitled “How to download High Quality Music via torrenting - The Mortal Instruments City of Bones used to get Free Music”.

This situation that’s brewing in Kingston sounds a lot like what happened the last time when Television Jamaica decided to buy the exclusive rights to “The Voice”, albeit Executive Director of the Broadcasting Commission, Cordel Green says this is tame by comparison, quote: “We have received some (complaints), but in comparison to complaints about The Voice, I wouldn't say it is significant. The complaints are not overwhelming. I suspect people now have a better appreciation that the Broadcasting Commission does not regulate the commercial affairs of broadcasters”.

They did this with the help of Telecom Provider Digicel after the popularity of local Artiste Tessanne Chin on the show back in September 2013 as I’d explained in my blog article entitled “Social Media backlash over Television Jamaica's decision to buy rights to NBC's The Voice - Power of the Middle Classes wielding Apple iPhones as FLOW AI is watching you”.

With her first Blind Audition on “The Voice” declared a hit after she previewed on Monday September 23rd 2013, Television Jamaica did what CVM TV is now doing with Scandal and now Suits. These are shows that are hugely popular in the US of A as anyone can see by perusing Kickasstorrents, the same technique that Netflix uses to determine which shows to carry as explained in my Geezam blog article entitled “Netflix uses Torrenting Trends to pick popular Content”.

CVM TV desperate for Viewership – Suits Scandal as their Couch and Studio get Bigger

And as before in the case of Television Jamaica and “the Voice”, the Broadcasting Commission has no control over the purchasing of rights to broadcasting a show!

The best thing that the complaints from the Uptown Folks in Kingston can do is to take their complaints directly to Television Jamaica and CVM TV as pointed out by Executive Director of the Broadcasting Commission, Cordel Green, quote: “It is pointless complaining to the regulators about these things. We don't run the stations and we can't tell them what to air or when to air it”.

There’s also something else the Uptown Folks in Kingston can do; switch to Television Jamaica and CVM TV on their Cable Channels and watch the shows that they’ll be stealing. Better yet, get a Roku or Apple iTV and just stream USA and NBC, after they’ve logged into their VPN or applied the settings for their Proxy to their Set Top Box as described in my blog article entitled “How to find Free TV online and how to Stream from Hulu or Netflix in Jamaica - Jamaican Pirate of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides Streaming Restricted US Content

But why is CVM TV doing this? Same reason as Television Jamaica back when “the Voice” had Tessanne Chin, who for those who aren’t aware, won “the Voice”, becoming the first Caribbean National and Jamaica to achieve this feat as pointed out my blog article entitled “Tessanne Chin is the Winner of the Voice - Princess Kitana #BreadandButter work begins as March 2014 deadline for Universal Studios album from Mona Tessanne”.

She’s now launched her first album Count On My Love in July 2014 and despite not doing well, it’ll pick up sales once she decided to stream it as noted in my blog article entitled “Why Tessanne Chin’s Count on My Love isn't selling – Streaming is now King as she needs to Experiment with Writing her OWN Songs”.

So being tied to her success has brought more viewership to Television Jamaica; CVM TV is looking to get some of that love, even having made changes in July 2014 to their set d├ęcor with a bigger studio and a couch.

Broadcasters scared of 4G LTE – Broadband means Streaming over FLOW will be more common

It will thus be interesting to see how they’ll fare once 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) launches in Jamaica in the next two (2) years from April 2014. That was when the licenses were issued to Telecom Provider Digicel and Telecom Provider LIME as noted in my blog article entitled “LIME and Digicel have purchase AWS and 700 MHZ Spectrum for 4G LTE - Spectrum Purchase by the Number with Strings Attached as Ministry gets kitty donations from Local Telcos”.

So far their progress has been well reported in the Media, which I of course have been following as noted in my blog article entitled “Digicel’s Fiber Optic Network has July 2014 Completion Date – Launchpad for 4G LTE, Frame Relay, FTTH and Cloud Based PBX Services”.

Why did I mention this?

Streaming is the coming new paradigm by October 2014, as Television Jamaica and the entire RJR Communication Group is gearing up their Streaming Platform with the help of  UNIV’s uVOD Streaming Platform  as I’d reported in my blog article entitled “RJR Group to launch UNIV’s uVOD Streaming Platform by October 2014 - Streaming Gamble against Piracy as 2015 is DSO to DTT and Digital HD Radio”.

Even Tessanne Chin has now begun to realize that, possibly after having read my blog article and realized that I was correct, as she’s now switched to streaming via Spotify. So the move by CVM TV is most likely in anticipation of this coming reality in the next two (2) years.

So they’re probably just bulking up on new programs for the coming Fourth Quarter by rolling out these new shows in anticipation of a very busy Christmas Season when Jamaicans are more likely to open their hearts and their wallets and speak. Advertisers, seeing these changes, are more likely to advertise with the Local TV Station that’s got more eyeballs, as that’s the name of the game.

CVM TV, by acquiring Scandal and now Suits, is now Looking In, Looking Out and is starting to look even Better.
