How to find work in Jamaica at Call Centers - Drink Bottled Water as Dehydration and Salty Foods makes you lose concentration

I’d like to dispense some advice related to finding work in the Call Center World as explained in my blog article entitled “How to find work in Jamaica at Call Centers - Job Agencies, Applications with Proposals and Reading the Sunday Gleaner for Fast and the Furious 6 Tips and Tricks”. Specifically, it’s on the issue of Dehydration.

Despite the perception I’ve given via my blog article of an easy sit-in-one-place-and-make-money via handling inbound and outbound calls while cooled in A/C, dehydration is a danger that afflicts many persons and they don’t even know. Especially as many of the workers practice drinking Sodas such as Coca-Cola instead of drinking Distilled Water, which is the same Water you can get from the Water Cooler.
Dehydration mustn’t be confused with thirst and in fact you can be dehydrated and not realize. Dehydration occurs when the Water level in your body decreases by as little as 2%. Remember Water makes up 60% of your body and believe it or not a 2% decline will affect the brain, the main control center of the body resulting in:

1.      Concentration on complex tasks
2.      Dangerous reduction in Short Term Memory
3.      Headaches
4.      Irritability
5.      Tiredness

Thus here are a few interesting Facts on Dehydration among Americans based on a University of Washington, with Applicability to Jamaicans working in a Call Center Environment:

1.      30%. Decrease in one’s metabolism due to Dehydration
2.      37% of Americans, the thirst is often mistaken for hunger
3.      75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated
4.      Lack of Water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue
5.      One glass of Water will shut down midnight hunger pangs
The benefits of drinking 5-8 glasses of Water daily are clear as well:

1.      45% decrease in the risk of colon cancer
2.      50% decline in the risk of bladder cancer
3.      79% decline in the risk of breast cancer
4.      80% of back and joint pain sufferers see significant pain relief

Now here are some interesting facts on Coca-Cola, a very popular drink with the Millennials (ages 18 to 28) who work in many of these Call Centers:

1.      In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
2.      The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.
3.      The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!
4.      To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.
5.      To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the “real thing” sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.
6.      To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
7.      To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
8.      To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.
9.      To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
10.  You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days
It’s already known that drinking more Water is good for you. So what does one do to avoid Dehydration? Here are a few tips:

1.      If you going on a long journey, always carry adequate supply of Bottled Water
2.      Don’t drink Sodas or Alcohol. Sodas are fattening and Alcohol impairs your judgement. They also remove Water from your body
3.      Don’t eat salty foods or foods with excess MSG (Mono sodium Glucomate). This is known to dehydrate the brain and bring on headaches
4.      Don’t drink Tap Water, as it contains fluorides and dissolved mineral salts. Better to buy Bottled Water, which is really Distilled Water with trace mineral salts added. Or you can make a Solar Desalinator to make Distilled Water as described in my Geezam blog article entitled “How to Make Distilled Water using a Solar Desalinator
5.      Get into the routine habit of Drinking Water Regularly, making sure to achieve your daily quota of 5-8 glasses a day
6.      Drink Water to start your day just after to awaken from Bed. Your body loses a lot of Water during sleep, so replenishing yourself is the first priority for the day
7.      Drink Water before you feel thirsty. Dehydration occurs long before you are thirsty

That’s a wrap. I’ve got more tips for surviving the Call Center World in another article coming soon. In the mean time avoid Sodas and Alcohol and stay hydrated by drinking Bottled or Distilled Water.
