How annonaceous acetogenins in Soursop Plant Cures Cancer

The Soursop plant (Annona muricata), also called the graviloa plant, is truly an interesting plant indeed.

Turns out that this plant may potentially be able to cure cancer, based on the true story of Yvonne Kirlew and her husband Raymond Kirlew as reported in the article “Soursop Stories Still Creating Stir”, published Saturday November 3, 2012, The Jamaica Gleaner.

The Cancer Research UK has also declared it to be 10,000 more effective against drug-resistant cancers such as breast and liver cancer cells as noted in the article “When Chemotherapy Fails Try Soursop Fruit”, published March 2, 2014 by Gabriela Motroc, Liberty Voice.

 Also research from the Purdue University’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has also demonstrated the anti-cancer properties of the Soursop plant (Annona muricata) as reported in the article “They Said That This Fruit Was 10,000 Times Stronger Than Chemo. Here Is What They Didn’t Tell You”, published Tuesday November 10th, 2015, The Curacao Chronicle.

Their study, one of the biggest and most comprehensive, did further research into the anti-cancer compounds found in the Soursop plant (Annona muricata) called annonaceous acetogenins.

As with other previous research, they discovered that these compounds were able to inhibit the growth of Cancer cells will leaving normal sell alone. The annonaceous acetogenins was also effective against drug-resistant cancer cells.

So with so much promising anti-cancer properties and activity against so many cancers, why is this not yet available for prescription?

Soursop Cancer Cure awaiting Clinical Trials – Soursop Plant may be Cancer Panacea

Good to note that most of the research listed above was done on in vitro cells i.e. cancer cell in test tubes or on mice or other animals not on humans in clinical trials. So this is basically a POC (Proof of Concept) and not actual proof.

The annonaceous acetogenins may work different inside of the body and may even cause an immune response that would be unknown from these in-vitro testing. Also it may react negative in combination with other foods, with other chemotherapy drugs, ineffective in very low concentrations or toxic in high concentrations.

Still the research results thus far are promising and we await clinical trials in the next five (5) years to demonstrate these amazing cancer killing properties. Until then, you can boil Soursop tea from the leaves or make the Soursop plant (Annona muricata) into a nice drink from which you may derive some nutritional health benefits.
