Dr. Mona L. Delitsky and Dr. Kevin H.Baines discovers that it rains Diamonds on Saturn and Jupiter

Dr. Mona L. Delitsky of California Specialty Engineering in Pasadena, California, and Dr. Kevin H. Baines of the University of Wisconsin-Madison claim that Diamonds may lie within the Hydrogen/Helium Oceans of Saturn and Jupiter!

Even better, they may even be ejected by the planets' cores in volcanic eruptions as liquid Diamonds and ejected into the upper atmosphere to fall as liquid Rain of Diamonds as stated in the article “Saturn's blings: Diamonds may float in the planet's atmosphere”, published October 18, 2013 4:10 PM PDT by Eric Mack, CNET News.

In fact, some of the Diamonds within Jupiter and Saturn core may be so large that they may be gigantic “Diamond-bergs” Floating around inside of the Hydrogen/Helium core of these planets! Imagine that!

It’s already know what conditions are needed for Diamonds to form and to even make them artificially. Here on Earth, Diamonds and even Sapphires as explained in my blog article entitled “Sapphire Screens for smartphones by Q1 2014 - Unscratchable Sign of Virgo is the Man of Steel to revive Jamaican Alumina Industry” can be made from known material under considerable pressure and temperature. It’s also been known for some 30 years that Uranus and Neptune may have Diamond Cores and not cores made of Iron as Earth would have.

]

But it’s the applications that are exciting. It suggests that Rare Earth Metals aren’t the only thing we can mine and it’s not just the Moon alone that  they can be mined from as argued in my blog article entitled “Obama and Dr. Pell's Moon Express - Fly Me To the Moon, I''ll Drink To That”. We can also mine Diamonds too as I’d long predicted in my blog article entitled “DARPA HTV-2 and 100-Year Interstellar Travel Research – Diamonds are Forever in the Stars”.

Dr. Mona L. Delitsky and Dr. Kevin H. Baines – Diamonds Rain under Presssure and Temperature

That’s the premise behind their paper that they presented to the prestigious members of the American Astronomical Society's Division for Planetary Sciences in Denver in early ctober 2013 and then later published in the Journal Nature in the article “Diamond drizzle forecast for Saturn and Jupiter”, published 09 October 2013 Maggie McKee, Nature Magazine.

Their conclusion was based on new data about the phase diagram of Carbon using shockwave techniques, the work of Knudson et al. 2008 and Eggert et al. 2010 coming from Sandia Laboratories and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and newly published adiabats (pressure-temperature diagrams) about Jupiter and Saturn carbon based on the work of Nettelmann et al. (2008, 2011).

Dr. Mona L. Delitsky and Dr. Kevin H. Baines have thus predicted that Diamonds must lurk not only inside of the liquid Hydrogen/Helium cores of these planets, but it may be literally Diamonds in the Sky, Rihanna Style as stated in the article “Diamonds in the sky: Scientists find Jupiter and Saturn are awash in Diamonds”, published October 09, 2013, Phys.org.

Diamonds in the Sky – It’s Raining Diamonds

According to the pair, this is how it happens. Lightning in the upper atmosphere combusts atmospheric Methane (CH4(g)) which would normally turns to Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Water (H2O(l)). But thanks to the lack of Oxygen, mostly bound up as ozone in the upper atmosphere and the energy levels involved in lightning, the Methane (CH4(g)) splits in Hydrogen (H2(g)) and Carbon (C(g))!

That Carbon later clumps together and forms soot as shown in the Stoichiometric Equations Below:

CH4(g) ® C(g) + 2H2(g)
 2C(g) ® 2C(s)

This Carbon (C(s)) soot then falls to the surface, mostly seas of liquid Methane (CH4(l)) on both of the Gas Giants, where it aggregates, clumps further and sinks deep into the oceans. As it sinks, it eventually reaches the equivalent of the Earth mantle. But instead of being solid, it’s made of super-cooled liquid/solid Metallic Hydrogen (H2(s)) and Helium (He(s)).

At that depth the pressure is extreme. Combined with the low temperature, the Carbon (C(s)) soot fuses, much as it would do in a Pressure Chamber on Earth, forming first Graphite (C(s)) and then as it approaches the center of the planets, Diamonds (C(s)). But closes to the core, it’s mostly solid Hydrogen (H2(s)).

At that depth, it’s Metallic Hydrogen, with pressures much higher than on earth. This Crushes the Diamonds (C(s)) and the heat of the Core causes the crushed Diamonds (C(s)) to rise via Vents to the surface, where Volcanoes made up of Frozen Methane (CH4(s)) /Helium (He(s)) spew the Diamonds (C(s)) in a Pyroclastic flow of super hot Methane (CH4(s)), Hydrogen (H2(g)) and Helium (He(g)) million of miles into the atmosphere, as the gravity on Saturn and Jupiter is weak due to them being Gas Giants.

This crushed Diamonds (C(s)) falls back to the Surface as Diamonds (C(s)) Rain. Some may even reach far up into the upper atmosphere of Saturn and end up being swept up by the Gravity of its outer moons, forming rings of not only solid Water (H2O(l)) but also Crushed Diamonds (C(s))!

Diamond Mining is Possible – A Ticket to Jupiter Please

Dr. Mona L. Delitsky and Dr. Kevin H. Baines appear to be of the imaginative sort. Possibly too, they may be authors in their own right, as they publish many papers on their work to get the University Students they teach interested in Astronomy. So the pair lost no time in publishing their work along with a Work of Fiction that illustrated the idea of Diamond Mining in the year 2469.

The book, Alien Seas, (Springer 2013) on Amazon with illustrations by space artist Michael Carroll, feature a chapter written by Dr. Mona L. Delitsky and Dr. Kevin H. Baines entitled “The Seas of Saturn” in which they describe Diamond Mining activities on Saturn using Robots.

They even predict that in that distant future, Diamonds are used in situ to build the hulls of starships instead of being sold to Earth, as they’d disrupt the Diamond Markets on the planet, albeit in reality the prices are already artificially high thanks to the De Beers Cartel. But it also helps to show that when Rihanna sang the song “Diamonds in the Sky” she may have been predicting the Future in the 25th Century where this would be commonplace

All of this make Astronomy come alive. Great to see that these scientists were forward thinking enough to even write a work of fiction to bring their paper to life, a rare talent among PhD used to peer reviews for work that no one ever reads unless given as an assignment. Here’s the link to their Paper and the Book that’s a decent read!

360 MW LNG Power Plant and 115 MW Renewable Energy Project Bidders have submitted Bids - Congratulations to the Energy Bidders as Liberated Energy Sector is Power to the People

More positive news in the Energy Sector, both Renewable and Fossil Fuel based! This as all the selected Bidders has now coughed up their respective Bid Bonds!

In the 360 MW LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) Power Plant Project, EWI (Energy World International) has submitted their Bid Bond of US$7.37-million Bond, which represents 1% of their US$737 million project on Friday October 18th 2013 as stated in the article “EWI Delivers - Energy Minister Welcomes Bid Bond”, Published Saturday October 19, 2013, The Jamaica Gleaner and “EWI posts Bid”, published Saturday, October 19, 2013 BY BALFORD HENRY Senior staff reporter, The Jamaica Observer!

In the 115 MW Renewable Energy Project, the three (3) initial Bidders also procured their respective Bid Bonds as well on Tuesday October 15th 2013 as stated in the article “Renewable Energy Bidders Make Security Bond Deposits”, Published Saturday October 19, 2013, The Jamaica Gleaner.

This is exactly fifteen (15) days after EWI was made the preferred Bidder and were told to procure the Bid Bond on Friday October 4th 2013 as stated in my blog article entitled “Azurest Cambridge Power failed to provide the Bid Bond and Energy World International sent in to bat for 360MW LNG Power Plant - Energize Jamaica Should be the Rightful No. 2 Bidder”.

If you’ve been following my blog, you’d have realized that WWFL (Wigton Wind Farms Limited) has already procured their Bid Bond as of Tuesday October 8th 2013 as stated in my blog article entitled “Wigton Wind Farms Limited submits Bid Bond for 24MW Wind Farm - 78MW Total from WWFL, BMR and WRB Enterprises Inc means were 37MW short on Renewable Energy”.

115 MW of Renewable Energy vs 360 MW of LNG Power – Power to the People

So in reality, it’s the other two (2) Bidders, Solar Power Company WRB Enterprises Inc and Wind Energy Company BMR (Blue Mountain Renewables) that have paid up their Bid Bond. This brings the total Renewable Energy from Successful Bids to 78 MW, with a remaining 37 MW of capacity that needs to be filled by an additional qualified Bidder.

This development is BOTH the 360 MW LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) Power Plant Project and the 115 MW Renewable Energy Project comes as quite a surprise, even to me! Congratulations are in order to the following Bidders as despite the negative Press in this Jamaica first ever Energy Bidding process, they’ve prevailed:

360 MW LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) Power Plant Project

115 MW Renewable Energy Project

2.      WRB Enterprises Inc
3.      BMR (Blue Mountain Renewables)

Bitbanger's Remee Sleeping Mask can induce Lucid Dreaming in REM Sleep using Music via Inception

Awhile aback I did an article on the PSiO Mind Booster that could help to relieve stress via self-hypnosis using a series of pulsing LED inside of a device that looked like a AR (Augmented Reality) ski-mask as described in my blog article entitled “PSiO Mind Booster glasses helps you experience Psychedelic high sans drugs - How to produce Electronically Induced Hallucinations”.

Google Logo

The Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask was originally a Kickstarter project that was started by Bitbanger back in early 2012 as stated in “Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask flashes before your eyes”, published April 5, 2012 2:20 PM PDT by Amanda Kooser, CNET News . The project gained huge traction and quite a bit of notoriety on Kickstarter, exceeding its goal by double it’s original goal of US$35,000. Now it’s a finished product and retails for US$95 and comes in five (5) colours:

1.      Black
2.      Blue
3.      Red
4.      Yellow
5.      White

US$345 is an awful lot of money to experience a mental High, Inception style, so I spent some time experimenting with the idea of inducing a high without drugs using the method I’d suggested in the article. While I’m still fascinated by the an Electronically Induced High (as it’s safer than buying Marijuana!) if you read the blog post above I was also fascinated by Electronically Induced Lucid Dreaming.

Google Logo

At US$95, the Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask is a lot cheaper than the sticker shock price of US$345 for the PSiO Mind Booster or even the REM Dreamer which retails for US$217.95 on Amazon!

Determine you REM – Altered States on entering Dream Land Through the Looking Glass

According to the Dreamer and the Digital Trends writer Drew Prindle, the gadget works by LED’s blinking a pattern when you hit REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, the point in your sleep cycle when you’re dreaming. Those LEDs are controlled by a simple Timer that you have to program with the exact time that you fall into REM Sleep by connecting the Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask to a computer via a rather unusual programming method.

First to determine the exact time you go into REM Sleep, you’ll need a Smartphone and an app called Sleep Cycle. It determines when you fall into different stages of sleep by you physical movements during sleep using the smartphones built in accelerometer. This process might take awhile, as it took the Dreamer and the Digital Trends writer Drew Prindle two (2) months before he gathered enough data to determine his REM Sleep Cycle.

Programming the Remee – I’m in an Inception state of Mind

Instead of being programmed via a USB Cable, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity to a smartphone app, the Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask is programmed using BitBanger’s website., You simply enter what setting you want into their website and then you’re instructed to hold up the Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask to the Screen, at which point the website screen flashes binary coded series of colours on and off to transmit the instructions to the Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask’s Optical Sensors located on the front of the mask.

]

Apparently this keeps the product lighter as well as cooler on the face, as the over Transmission protocols have circuits that generate heat, very uncomfortable if placed inside of a sleeping mask. Once programmed with the exact time when you go into REM Sleep, you then put it on an according to his dream log, it’ll kick in after about four (4) days!

Dreamer and writer Drew Prindle Dream – Conscious and Wide Awake in a Dream

Now for the “Awesome” part! According to the Dreamer and the Digital Trends writer Drew Prindle, you’ll see the light blinking patterns in your dream either as a dream element or as blinking lights in the field of visions of your dream i.e. floating in front of you. This is the lights from the Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask blinking during your REM Sleep which your brain is able to process as the LED are bright enough to be seen by your eyes but not enough to awaken you from the dream.

At that point of realization, the dream should become solid, in focus and very real and you can at that point start moving around in your dream. Another nice convenient feature of Lucid Dreaming is that since you’re aware it’s a dream, a process called being Wide Awake in your Dream or Awakening, the Dream becomes more like a conscious experience.

This is good, as it means it’ll be like travelling in a different world and thus once you leave this world via waking up back into the Real world, the Dream World will be in your long term memory ready for you to write it down., After all, that’s why the Dreamer and the Digital Trends writer Drew Prindle has his account of his dream wandering around in his childhood house minus the furniture!

Lucid Dreaming – Katy Perry’s Wide Awake is Possible

Clearly Lucid Dreaming is possible. All you have to do is time when exactly you enter REM Sleep and at that point play a pre-assigned signal in the Real world that you can detect with your senses in the Dream World. That’s how the BitBanger’s Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask works, plain and simple!

Thus it becomes obvious that you can also enter a Lucid Dreaming State once you know your REM Sleep Cycle. Just as easily and on the cheap, you could’ve also wear a Dr. Dre Beat Audio headset connected to a smartphone while sleeping. The Smartphone would be programmed via a music playing app to play your favourite music when you hit REM sleep. Once you hear the song, and you’re in REM Sleep dreamland, you should be able to control the dream after awhile, Inception (2010) style!

Other more expensive Sleeping masks such as the REM Dreamer which retails for US$217.95 on Amazon exist that can detect you Alpha and Beta Brainwaves via an attached EEG (Electroencephalograph) to determine when you’re in REM Sleep and thus play a song or pulses of LED light. But at a price that’s reasonable and a device that’s easily trainable, the BitBanger’s Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask gets you Wide Awake, Katy Perry Style at a price that’s easy to have a good night’s sleep over.

How FaceBook giving Teenagers the power of Public Posts improves their Advertising Revenue

“Teens are among the savviest people using of social media, and whether it comes to civic engagement, activism, or their thoughts on a new movie, they want to be heard”

Spokesperson on Privacy at FaceBook in a FB Newsroom release on Wednesday October 16th 2013

FaceBook only a few weeks on Thursday October 10th 2013 had decided to remove a layer of its privacy policy that was not only unused but also not really working, the infamous “Who can look up your Timeline by Name” feature.

Now FaceBook is allowing Teenagers (ages 13 to 17) to make Public posts, a move that’ll cause panic among many parents already deeply mistrustful of FaceBook as stated in the article “FACEBOOK ISN’T LIKE A REGULAR MOM, IT’S A COOL MOM: TEENS NOW HAVE THE OPTION TO POST PUBLICLY”, published October 17, 2013 by Kate Knibbs, Digital Trends.

You can read Facebook’s NewsRoom Announcement to see their original official pronouncement that’ll possibly either freak out most Teenagers (ages 13 to 17) already scared of their parents or attract them in droves. Personally, giving them this choice will freak them out and push many towards Twitter or even Snapchat which is also the other Mobile Social Network competitor creeping up on FaceBook as stated in my blog article entitled “Snapchat now racks up 350 million shares of self-deleting snaps per day - Milennial Girl’s Litmus Test for Friends and future boyfriends”.

For those Teenagers (ages 13 to 18) who find this a tad creepy, here’s a handy guide as to how to decide what to Post and what not to post and where to Post it on Social Media:

Google Logo

But if you’re one of those Teenagers (ages 13 to 17) that have decided to bare your soul to the Public, then be advised that when you post also makes a difference.  According to Metrics from URL (Universal Resource Locator) Shortening service Bit.ly, different Social Networks have different times that result in optimal exposure best for posting as shown below.

Why 13+ have the Power – More Bucks from Advertising

The reason is very simple to figure out: FaceBook want you to make your entire life public and searchable via their contextual sensitive Search Engine Graph Search as explain in my blog article entitled “Facebook removes Who can look up your Timeline by name feature - Facebook Pages vs Facebook Profiles as the Power of Privacy is in YOUR Hands”.

After all, like Tessanne Chin on “The Voice”, Advertising is FaceBook’s “Bread and Butter” based on the statistics presented in my blog article entitled “Facebook continues to grow despite challenges from Mobile Social Network - Facebook is Growing Strong like House Tyrell in Game of Thrones”.

This no different from when I post my articles on my Blog My Thoughts on Technology and Jamaica or on any website. Most Websites are Public Access by default anyway unless you restrict access via issueing Paid membership logins and Passwords e.g. The Journal of Nature or other Scientific Journals, and create the same layer of Friends and Permissions on your Website as exists on FaceBook. FaceBook is effectively joining the Social Media Bandwagon by making everything Public.

Google Logo

By making this decision FaceBook is improving Advertising Metrics via making everything anyone posts Public and Searchable via Google Graph or Bing. That’ll make advertisements easier to find and thus make their website more attractive to advertisers. Aside from making you more searchable via Graph Search, FaceBook had already unleashed their FBX (Facebook Exchange) platform in March 2012 as stated in “Facebook makes risky bet on News Feed ads that track you”, published March 28, 2013 4:00 AM PDT by Jennifer Van Grove, CNET News

This is to allow advertisers for large clients access to their treasure trove of Cookie Tracking data mined from cookies in your Browser whenever you login to FaceBook and visit other websites while still logged into FaceBook. They’ve also made their Developer Tools for individual Advertisers dead simple to use albeit they haven’t dropped their prices as stated in “Facebook wises up with dumbed-down ad tools”, October 8, 2013 11:11 AM PDT by Jennifer Van Grove, CNET News.

Google+ is on the Rise – Facebook breaks down the Berlin Wall like a Wrecking Ball

Finally, a possibly the best piece of evidence that the Big Blue’s all about the Advertising Benjamins, FaceBook has also decided to include Google+ as a Advertising Partner. This as DoubleClick, Google’s Google+ Social Network Liason for advertising, has finally been allowed to participate in FBX as stated in “Say what? Google will now sell Facebook ads”, published October 18, 2013 2:38 PM PDT by Desiree Everts DeNunzio, CNET News.

The move will allow FaceBook to benefit from the phenomenal rise of Google+ in the last 2 years since July 2011 as explained in my blog article entitled “Google+ is expanding rapidly and is set to beat Facebook by 2016 - Batman the Dark Knight Rises as the new Social Network King”. Effectively folks, the Cold War relations between FaceBook and Google are thawing as FB realizes that they need to work together.

Many in the Developing World are becoming Mobile Social Media junkies as cheaper smartphones and Tablets become available such as the DL600 here in Jamaica as announced in my blog article entitled “Digicel officially launches DL600 smartphones on Friday October 18th 2013 and JA$100 2-Day Data Plans - Ours is the Fury as Digicel’s DL600 secures their Throne in this Game of Phones against LIME”.

It’s thus creating a gently rising tide that benefits everyone riding on the Social Media Bandwagon! The Breaking of the Berlin Wall between FaceBook and Google+ may mark the thawing of relations between to two giants of Social Media as this move is like a Wrecking Ball, Miley Cyrus Style!

Pew Internet Research indicates that 35% of Americans own a Tablet - Jamaicans may develop a Taste for Tablets by 2015

A recent study of 6,224 Americans ages 16 and over by Pew Internet Research indicates that one in three Americans owns a Tablet as stated in the article “35% of Americans now own a Tablet, Pew says”, published October 18, 2013 9:10 AM PDT by Larry Dignan, CNET News and “ONE-THIRD OF ALL AMERICANS NOW OWN A TABLET, AND ONE-FOURTH OWN EBOOK READERS”, published October 18, 2013 By Jeffrey Van Camp, Digital trends. To be precise:

1.      35% of Americans owns a Tablet
2.      24% of Americans owns an e-book reader

This is further confirmation that e-books are a produce all of their own and will never be gobbled up by Tablets which are in fact poised for growth in the Developing World as predicted by HIS iSuppli in my Geezam blog article entitled “IHS iSuppli reveals e-Readers are poised for explosive growth in the Developing World as the First World loses interest in Reading”!

Most Americans who are Tablet users also have an e-book reader separate and apart for reading books and tend to go more for Google Android Tablets in the 7” category according to a Localytics Study as stated in my Geezam blog article entitled “The Two Towers of Tablets, 7” Amazon Kindle Fire and 7.9” Apple iPad are the Global Tablet size of Choice”.

As usual the stats are best revealed in the form of a Graph:

But the Table is a bit more fascinating. It indicates that Tablet ownership is still a typical white American Teenager (ages 13 to 17) and Millennial (ages 18 to 28) who at or went to college, works as a Computer or Petrochemical Engineer and lives in the suburbs:
Jamaica is yet to catch on full to this Mobile Computing Trend, despite entertainers toting smartphones and Tablets. This lack of interest has already affected our 4G LTE (Long term Evolution) Auction as stated in my blog article entitled “Jamaica's 700MHz Spectrum Auction fails to attract bidders on Friday October 11 2013 - Jamaicans Lack interest in Broadband Internet and no Telecom Regulator for the Sector”.

Hopefully as Tablets get cheaper, we’ll develop a taste for Tablets. But many of my computer Repair customers have expressed misgivings about Tablets, stating that they’re underpowered and only good for YouTube. Also, their fragility is also an issue, as when many of them break, the cost to repair the cracked screen and where to get it repaired are not quite as easy as fixing a Laptop Screen. That’s the perception that needs to be changed for Tablet’s to gain rapid adoption!

For serious Typing, you’ll have to get a case for your Tablet with a keyboard and also learn to touch-type, not to mention learn the proper care and cleaning of your Tablet as explained in my Geezam blog article entitled “How to make your own Cleaning Fluid and Cleaning Tips for your Smartphone or Tablet”. Also, you’ll have to have an External SSD (Solid State Drive) Harddrive as those are more rugged than the External SATA External Harddrives to provide extra storage for those Tablet users that are always mobile.

Currently this Christmas, the dream products on everyone’s Christmas shopping list is Samsung Galaxy smartphones and Tablets as stated in my blog article entitled “Samsung Galaxy smartphones and Blackberrys are tops on Jamaican Searches according to Google Trends - Importation Guide to Selling smartphone to Jamaicans”. Eventually as cheaper Tablets and smartphones hit the market, more Jamaicans will develop a Taste for Tablets as well by 2015!

Unruly High School Students Making out and having sex in the JUTC Half-Way-Tree Transport Center - How wi-Fi in Buses can lead to Solar Power, LPG and the SmarterCard Cashless System

“The fact is, the Transport Centre was made for everybody, and nothing is wrong if on a Friday, you want to hang out and have a chat with friends. It's just to find a way to instill some values within our students, and definitely that would be my approach”

Managing Director of the JUTC Colin Campbell commenting on the behavior of Kingston High School Students at the JUTC (Jamaica Urban Transit Company) Bus Terminal in Half-Way-Tree

High School Students and Buses seem to be making the headlines of late. This time it’s not the Holmwood Technical High Tragedy and the solution of students being given designated Bus Drivers on contract as stated in my blog article entitled “Holmwood Technical High starts Community Bus Service to Transport students - Multimodal Transport System with JUTC and JRC Still the best long-term option”.

Rather, it’s the Jamaica Constabulary Force aka the Jamaican Police threatening to expose students loitering at the JUTC (Jamaica Urban Transit Company) Half-Way-Tree Bus Terminal as stated in the article “Watch out students!”, published Sunday, October 20, 2013 By KARYL WALKER Editor - Crime/Court Desk, The Jamaica Observer that’s making the news.

This phenomenon of students frolicking at the JUTC Bus Terminal doing everything from making out (French Kissing in Public) to having sex in the bathrooms (wow! Adventurous lot!), despite the newspaper expose in The Jamaica Observer articles “Students turn HWT Transport Centre into haven for sex, fights, robberies”, published Sunday, October 13, 2013 by KARYL WALKER Editor — Crime/Court Desk, The Jamaica Observer and “The 'real world' at HWT Transport Centre”, published Sunday, October 13, 2013 BY HG HELPS Editor-at-Large, The Jamaica Observer is now news….for some strange reason.

But it may have a Wi-Fi solution enabled by Solar Powered MiFi that may even lead to LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) as a more efficient fuel option and then finally implementation of the SmarterCard Cashless System. Read on to see what I mean!

Nothing new on the Buses – Happens in May Pen and Portmore too

Apparently, these schoolchildren have been making it difficult for adults to take the JUTC Buses on a Monday and a Friday, the busiest days for the JUTC Transport Terminal in Half-Way-Tree as stated in “Problem Students Cutting Into JUTC's Cash”, Published Wednesday October 16, 2013, The Jamaica Gleaner.

To quote Managing Director of the JUTC Colin Campbell: “This has been hampering our services and causing us to lose a lot of money. Fewer adults are going in there, especially on a Friday, and this has been a problem, certainly from I have been here. The two biggest travel days are Mondays and Fridays, and rather than going into the Transport Centre, they prefer to take a Coaster Bus. What we have had to do sometimes is to pick them (adults) up in front of York Plaza - or somewhere in that area - in order to facilitate them, because they are turned off”.

I’ve observed the same pattern of behavior in May Pen, Clarendon and Portmore where students gather on a Friday before going home. They often loiter in the May Pen Bargain Center and The Towers where they play games or hang out in the lunch cafeteria. I’ve seen them making out many times and in some cases even in deeply intimate embrace and French kissing, a decidedly American cultural expression of affection.

And no it’s not a new trend; it’s been going on since 2008 based on this blast from the past article “No more loitering in Transport Centre”, published Friday March 14, 2008 by Athaliah Reynolds, Staff Reporter, The Jamaica Gleaner.

So what’s new here that the Police plan to do? And will they take action elsewhere in Jamaica and not just Kingston alone?

Make JUTC Buses into Kid Traps - Wi-Fi in Buses to attract students

A fairly simple and novel solution I’d suggest is to simply place Wi-Fi inside of the Buses. Many of these Teenagers (ages 13 to 17) have Blackberries and even smartphones, such as the much coveted Digicel DL600. Teenagers (ages 13 to 17) love the Internet more than loitering in the JUTC Transport Center.....or even Cooked food.

Combined with the Jamaica Police intervention, it’ll make it easy to remove them from the Transport Center on Fridays, as Internet access is the other thing that they love more than Music on the Party Buses, which SSP (Senior Superintendent) Radcliffe Lewis is clamping down on as stated in “Police seize more than 20 Buses in clampdown”, published Tuesday, October 08, 2013, The Jamaica Observer.

This Internet service could be provided via the installation of several Digicel or LIME MiFi Devices in each JUTC Bus as described in my Geezam blog article entitled “Crouching LIME Huawei E586 Mi-Fi – Hidden Dekal Wireless Dragon”. Then charge the students and extra JA$100 to use the Internet for the week. This alone would attract them and reduce loitering. In the process, the JUTC could start experimenting with using Solar Panels mounted on the JUTC Buses to provider power for the Electrical Systems, Radio, Communications and MiFi to provide the service.

Reduce Maintenance Costs – SmarterCard Cashless System made possible to reduce Fraud

If the JUTC does this, they’ll discover that their maintenance costs will decline and they’ll have vehicle batteries and alternators that last longer as they’d no longer have to carry the electrical load inside of the Buses. Eventually, if this is successful, the JUTC could eventually introduce the use of LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) to power the Buses instead of Gasoline, saving the JUTC some more money on maintenance as argued in my blog article entitled “JUTC SmarterCard Cashless System to be implemented in the Fourth Quarter of 2013 - Upgrade Buses to use LPG Fuel to reduce Maintenance costs”.

Very possible, especially as it now appears that the LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) fuelled 360MW Power Plant Project may be back on track, now that the No. 1 preferred EWI (Energy World International), has coughed up their bid bond of US$7.37 million dollars as stated in “EWI posts bid”, published Saturday, October 19, 2013 BY BALFORD HENRY Senior staff reporter, The Jamaica Observer and “EWI Delivers - Energy Minister Welcomes Bid Bond”, Published Saturday October 19, 2013, The Jamaica Observer.

So excess LNG, a starter material for making LPG, can be used to run the State’s Bus system and in the process makes the engines run cleaner as LPG, which pack the same energy level as Gasoline, is better for the Bus’ Engines than corrosive Liquid fuel as argued in my Geezam blog article entitled “Auto LPG as a Motor Vehicle Fuel”.

Hopefully too, in my estimation, that’ll eventually lead to other things, such as the implementation  of the much touted SmarterCard System which seems to have all but been forgotten among the news of Bus Fires or Arson in a bid to reduce JUTC Bus ticket Fraud as explained in my blog article entitled “How to defraud the JUTC and reduce your Bus Fare - Arson and Ticket Fraud means Switchover to the SmarterCard Cashless System before 2014 required”. In the process this’ll get the school girls parading about in their School clothes on Fridays to go home.

But that’s another story as the covert investigations being done by both the The Jamaica Observer and The Jamaica Gleaner using hidden Camera expands in a bid to expose what goes on on JUTC Buses. For now I’ll be following this story as it’s not new, but the novel approach I’ve suggested may solve the problem by making the JUTC Buses irresistible to students!

In the process it’ll reduce Maintenance Costs and usher in the SmarterCard Cashless System!
