Telecom
Provider Digicel
is tacitly accepting the newly imposed Cross Networking Flat Rate as laid down
by the OUR (Office of Utilities Regulation) as stated in my
blog article entitled “OUR's
JA$5.00 Cross Network Flat Rate ratified by Judge Ingrid Mangatal - GOJ's Telecoms Tax applied and Digicel's
victory in FTC Case assured”. The deal-making presses onwards.
Telecom
Provider Digicel
has made it plain by their recently wrapped up Supreme Court case that they
cannot accept the GOJ’s (Government of Jamaica) power to regulate markets and give
value for money to customers in Voice Calling.
More
specifically Telecom Provider Digicel
is expanding its Cloud Services by virtue of its partnership with Avaya
Communications to roll out Avaya Aura as stated in the article “Avaya,
Digicel join forces to bring business solutions Communication platform to cut
costs, say telecoms”, published Sunday, August 19, 2012, The Jamaica Observer.
Thus
Telecom Provider Digicel
is expanding its Data Services to make up for the coming shortfall in revenue,
as predicted in my
blog article entitled “Digicel's
Sweetest Deal and Digicel Mobile 4G Launched - Challenge to LIME Talk EZ
heralds Postpaid, MRSI via MNP and Cashless Society Renaissance”
and Geezam blog
article entitled “Digicel launches 4G Mobile and
JA$2.89 Sweeter in a bid - Jamaican Voice + Data Summer Wars”.
In
essence, it’s Telecom Provider Digicel’s
continued expansion of their Digicel
Business Portfolio but with an emphasis of bringing value to the Business
Telecoms market via offering a practical usage for their recently launched 4G
Broadband Services.
Avaya
Communications is a well know expert in VoIP (Voice over IP) Platform resplendent
with their own hardware and software solutions. Their partnership with Telecom
Provider Digicel
to roll out Avaya Aura
marks the coming of the death of Voice Services as predicted in my
blog article entitled “Telecom Providers and SMS - The Dead
Zone”.
Avaya Aura is a VAS (Value Added
Service) VoIP Platform that promises make Voice and Data Services uniform for
businesses that sign on while promoting Telecom Provider Digicel’s 4G Network, which is being
launched across the Caribbean as noted in as stated in my
blog article entitled “Digicel's
US$85 million HSDPA+ and WiMax 4G Upgrade - Wizards of Waverly Place Fast Five
Showdown”.
If
this sounds familiar, it should. Telecom Provider LIME had also made a
deal with Avaya Communications for their suite of VoIP Services back in July
2011AD as stated in the article “Avaya,
LIME partner in communications solution for SMEs”,
published Sunday, July 03, 2011, The Jamaica Observer.
Back
then it was the launch of Avaya
IP Office 7.0, with backward compatibility to Nortel Enterprise Solutions (NES)
IP and digital phones into the IP Office platform, NES being owned by Avaya
since December 2009AD.
And like Avaya Aura, Avaya IP Office
7.0 was targeted at SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) Customers in Jamaica,
part of Telecom Provider LIME’s expansion into VoIP business as
noted earlier in my
blog article entitled “LIME
look to the future with new Services - Video and Audio Friends with Benefits in
the Dead Zone”.
Both Avaya Aura and Avaya IP Office 7.0 allows
the provisioning of the following services:
1.
VoIP Platform with touch screen Handsets
2.
Video Conferencing Capabilities
3.
Voice and Video Mail retrieval
Upon
reading this, one can easily conclude that Avaya Aura is really an upgrade of Avaya IP Office 7.0, as
Telecom Engineers rarely build new systems from scratch, preferring to upgrade
a pre-existing system, leaving the Marketing Department to rebrand their
upgrade with a new name to ensure marketability.
But this is more than just VoIP and Video
Conference software and Hardware for SME’s to save on Regional and International
Travelling. This may actually mark the beginning of a Migration of Voice
Networks to VoIP over 3G or future LTE (Long Term Evolution) Networks in the
Caribbean. Very similar to what Telecom Provider Verizon has done as stated in my
blog article entitled “Verizon's
LTE Network and VoLTE - The Dead Zone meets The Machine Stops”.
In
this future, which may be as soon as 2015AD, the GSM Voice Networks being used for the increasingly
lucrative M2M (Machine to Machine) Traffic, similar to the use by Duke Energy
to bill customers smartmeters using M2M communication over Telecom Provider
AT&T and Verizon’s Networks as stated in my
blog article “AT&T
overcharges for unlimited SMS again - Duke Energy's US$1 billion Investment in
The Dead Zone”.
Put
another way, it’s really a commercial grade version of Skype for Smartphones
and Tablets, which is now coming out with ads as stated in my blog article
entitled
“Skype's
Ads on Free VoIP heralds coming of Free Mobile VoIP - Video Calls not problem
as LIME LTE soon tun up”.
Digicel
is monetizing VoIP on its 4G Network in much the same way that Telecom Provider
LIME
is monetizing their 4G Network expansion using LIME TV, the IPTV
(Internet Protocol Television) as stated in my Geezam blog
entitled “LIME
Jamaica’s 2013AD Launch of IPTV “LIME TV” is a Streaming “TV Anywhere”
Revolution”.
This
is now the first in a Step
Up Revolution (2012) by both Telecom Provider LIME and now Telecom
Provider Digicel
powered by Avaya Communications to make Voice Services Free on GSM and unify
everything on one common 3G+ or LTE Data VoIP Platform.
This
as previously predicted in my blog articles entitled “Telecom
Provider LIME and M2M Services - Free SMS and EDGE for the Caribbean to Foster
Regional Integration” and “Skype's
Ads on Free VoIP heralds coming of Free Mobile VoIP - Video Calls not problem
as LIME LTE soon tun up”. Stay tuned to this blog as we
bear witness to GSM Voice Extinction.
At this time it appears like Drupal is the top blogging platform out there right now.
