Google purchased Nest for US$3.2 billion - The Internet of Things just got Googled as Android tries to rule them all

In a shocking Twist of Fate, Google has apparently purchased Nest for US$3.2 billion as stated in the article “Google to buy Nest for $3.2B in quest for the 'conscious home'”, published January 13, 2014 1:16 PM PST by Daniel Terdiman, CNET News. Nest is the maker of the self-learning Thermostat that has more Apple stylings – making many wonder why Apple never purchased them as stated in “Why Apple didn't buy Nest”, published January 13, 2014 5:17 PM PST by Richard Nieva, CNET News.

But they’re apparently too good; it got them in trouble with Honeywell who brought a lawsuit claiming Patent infringement as reported in my blog article entitled “Nest Labs and Honeywell locked in battle over Self-LearningThermostat - War of the Worlds over My Science Project that Apple loves”.

They then made a seriously improved Wi-Fi smartphone controllable Smoke Detector as reported in my blog article entitled “Nest markets a Wi-Fi connected Smoke Detector, the Nest Protect, for US$129 - Nest stirs up the Smoke Detector Business in yet another smartphone connected device”. It’s a great product for US$129 that’s a smarter and quieter Smoke Detector.

What may have caught Google’s eye was the fact that both of their products were in the vein of the Internet of Things, a world long predicted where Appliances, Automobiles and other devices speak to each other and communicate to you over the Internet. In fact, there are more gadgets connected to the Internet than there are people on the Earth as stated in my Geezam blog article entitled “The Internet of Things – Our AI’s State of Connectedness”.

Google’s Android OS is the most popular OS on Earth. This looks like a match made in the Internet of Things heaven and with that kind of market presence and Engineering strength, may result in a boost in the spread and acceptance of the concept Internet of Things as anticipated in “Google's Nest buy could spur growth of 'Internet of things'”, published January 13, 2014 5:37 PM PST by Daniel Terdiman, CNET News.

Given Google’s interest in Robotics to counter Amazon, and now apparently UPS and FedEx push towards Drones for Delivery as noted in my blog article entitled “UPS and FedEx developing their Own Delivery Drones to compete with Amazon PrimeAir - Premium Rush Package Delivery Drones herald the coming of Google's Personal Androids that are Almost Human”, the purchase of Nest was inevitable.
