US$599 Asus Transformer Duet TD300 to launch at the end of March 2014 - Dual-OS Tablet Hybrid is the Muppets Most Wanted that gives the Best of Both Worlds, Hannah Montana Style

Hell has apparently frozen over. This as Asus, maker of the Asus Transformer Tablet which eventually made its debut in November 2011 as chronicled in my blog article entitled “Asus Transformer vs Apple iPad 2 - X-Men First Class for Ludacris' Numba' One Spot”, is doing their innovation design thing again.

It’s a Tablet/Laptop hybrid that can run Microsoft Windows 8.1 and Google Android Jellybean called the Asus Transformer Duet TD300 slated for a end of March 2014 launch as explained in “Android and Windows getting along inside your PC? Nope”, published March 1, 2014 11:20 AM PST by Brooke Crothers, CNET News.

And based on the latest news, the Tablet/Laptop hybrid, slated to hit the by the end of March 2014, isn’t getting any love from either Camp, especially Google as reported in “Google cited as bothered by Android-Windows hybrid”, published March 7, 2014 5:08 PM PST by Brooke Crothers, CNET News. 

That’s because instead of being a dual-boot Device, where you have to shut down one OS to boot into another, it instead is hot swappable from one OS to another. Apparently Asus has designed the Asus Transformer Duet TD300 with enough memory resources for both OS to run simultaneously without any memory or Hardware Resource conflicts.

Even more interesting is the facts that both are essentially Tablet OS; once detached, the Screen switches into Table mode for both OS in under 3 seconds, much like a Dual-SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) smartphone.

Apparently the same trend of Dual-SIM Smartphones as predicted in my Geezam blog article entitled “Trend towards Dual-SIM Smartphones developing in Jamaica as MNP Approaches” has foisted a much-desired parallel in the Mobile Computing world with which they share the same customer space: Dual OS Tablet/Hybrids.

Google hates Asus Transformer Duet TD300 - Microsoft using Google Android like Captain America’s Shield

Microsoft has no problems with the product but Google may be using is business relationships with Asus to block this potentially game changing device. After all, they’re losing the battle of Attrition against Chromebooks as more and more PC makers are making Chromebooks!

They’re cheaper to make and are fast sellers, the latest being Toshiba’s US$280 Chromebook CB35-A3120 as noted in my blog article entitled “Toshiba launches the US$280 Chromebook CB35-A3120 - Chrome OS’s cheaper and a sure bet against Windows 8.1 Rising Tide as Apple prepare to go to Hybrid School”.

Microsoft, in a desperate attempt to stave off being overwhelmed by a crush of 7” Google Android Tables and Chromebooks, has slashed licensing fees on Windows 8.1 by 70% from US$50 (JA$ 5,394.88) to US$15 (JA$ 1,618.47) as reported in my blog article entitled “Microsoft cuts cost of Windows 8 Licensing by 70% - Low cost Windows 8 Tablets coming as Microsoft is now Walking with the Enemy, Google Chrome OS”.

Folks, I’ll leave it at that. To say I’m excited by the Game changing potential would merely be a clichéd superlative that doesn’t do this product justice. This product potential is that for the first time you can have the Google apps on a Product that can also allow you to get productive work don using Microsoft products that you’re already familiar with – all usable within 3 seconds Switch from one OS to another.

As for rumours of Google trying to crash this wedding instead of “forever holding their peace”, I only have these words for them: First Do No Evil. If customers want Dual-OS Tablet/Laptop Hybrids, then it’s good for business, as they’ll buy them knowing they’ll get the Best of Both Worlds, Hannah Montana Style!
