How to care your Tablet from the TIS Program – Batteries are included and you’ll need a Portable Battery Charger

With Tablets slated to come to select set of 38 schools by the start of the new School Term in September 2014 under the newly rebranded TIS (Tablet in Schools) Program as explained in my blog article entitled “Tablet In Schools Project launched for September 2014 – How Teachers Benefit as Female interest in ICT Industry Blossoms”, there’s bound to be confusion.

I’ve already begun getting one or two calls and emails requesting information on what Tablets to buy and how to repair them. This despite the fact that the Schools to get Tablets haven’t been chosen as yet and I’ve no idea which Tablet model they’ll be choosing.

I have it on good authority, though, that Milk River All Age and Junior High School will be one of the six (6) chosen for the TIS Program Test Pilot, with upgrades coming to give the school Internet access to make the program work. So many Milk River, Clarendon kids have much to be excited about come September 2014.

Types of Tablets – Apple iOS or Google Android coming in Various Sizes

Some are unaware that there are two main sizes; 7”, and 10”, with the various sizes in-between, albeit 7” Tablets, which I’d predicted would become more dominant as stated in my blog article entitled “The Two Towers of Tablets, 7” Amazon Kindle Fire and 7.9” Apple iPad are the Global Tablet size of Choice”, are CURRENTLY more popular!

Worse, many are blissfully unaware that BOTH Tablets and smartphones rune on one of two popular OS (Operating Systems), Apple iOS or Google Android. To that end, when it comes to securing your Tablet so that your child can play without going unto Pornographic Websites, the same concepts for smartphones also applies to Tablets as explained in my blog article entitled “How to Lock down your Child’s Tablet or smartphone and Apps to Block, Protect and Notify you of your Child’s whereabouts Online - Defense Against the Dark Arts”.

Most likely, though, the Tablets will be 7” Tablets that run Google Android OS, possibly the Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite as detailed in my blog article entitled “US$200 Huawei Media Pad 7 Lite from Digicel compared to the Apple iPad 2 and the Google Nexus 7 - Excellent Tablet choices to avoid the Delivery Man this Christmas”.

Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them were the Haitian made 7” Surtab Tablet that Telecom Provider Digicel sells in other territories and of which Venezuela ordered 10,000 in May 2014 as I’d reported in my Geezam blog article entitled “Venezuela orders 10,000 Surtab Tablets – How Jamaica can duplicate Haiti’s Tablet Manufacturing”.

How to care your Tablet – Batteries are included and you’ll need a Portable Battery Charger

The specs on most of the, are pretty standard though. You’ll have to invest in the following cleaning items to protect their Tablet and keep it clean as described in my Geezam blog article entitled “How to make your own Cleaning Fluid and Cleaning Tips for your Smartphone or Tablet”. Also you’ll need the following:

1.      A Protective Tablet Case with a mini-keyboard built in

2.      A Bluetooth Mouse (optional)

3.      Screen Protector

4.      Portable Battery Charger

The Bluetooth Mouse is really for the parents; most children are already comfortable with Touch-Screen Computers. The Protective Tablet Case helps in concealing the Tablet from prying eyes and thieves. Parents need to instruct their child NOT to take out their Tablet in public, no matter how much their friends press them or how badly they wanna play Candy Crush Saga.

Battery life WILL be important and is a deciding factor if you eventually wish to get yourself a Tablet just to keep up with your child’s development. As I’ve discovered, a portable Battery Charger is helpful with smartphones as well as with Tablets as explained in my Geezam blog article entitled “How to extend your smartphone’s battery Life with a Portable Battery Charger”. Battery life is really the main deciding factor when buying a Tablet, as combined with the above; it determines how many hours of useful work your child can get out of their Tablet.

After all, not all the time you’ll be in a location where you can plug in with your charger! As Tablets have sensitive electronic internals, purchasing a Battery Charger will prolong the life of your Tablet and protect it from Power Surges by giving you a safe, reliable source of power when necessary.
