Blackberry Passport to launch Wednesday September 24th 2014 - 5.5-inch Apple iPhone 6 Plus proves Phablets a Trend and Passport a success

Now that the 4.7” Apple iPhone 6, 5.5” Apple iPhone plus and the Apple Watch have been launched as stated in “Apple reveals iPhone 6 Plus with 5.5-inch screen, starts at $299 (hands on)”, published September 9, 2014 10:17 AM by David Katzmaier, CNET News, a full review will be forthcoming from my blog as well as on the Geezam blog.

Right now, however, the focus in on the Blackberry Passport, which now has a set launch date of Wednesday September 24th 2014 to be held at three locations around the world simultaneously in Toronto, London, and Dubai as stated in the article “BlackBerry plots Passport launch for September 24”, published September 2, 2014 -- 16:00 GMT (09:00 PDT) By Zack Whittaker, ZDNews.

Like the Apple iPhone, there’s very little to reveal, as I’ve pretty much done that on my blog already as it relates to the specs in my blog article entitled “US$720 Blackberry Passport Specs Revealed – Metallic Accent with Big Battery makes this Hip to Be Square Phablet Trend a Winner”. In fact, not even the price may be anything to reveal, save for the price on Contracts on Carriers in the US of A, as this really is just an event to officially launch the product as there’re nothing really significant to reveal really!

However, based on an interview by Managing Director of BlackBerry India, Sunil Lalvani with Business Today in the article “We are seeing the traction growing for us, says Blackberry India MD”, published September 5, 2014 20:55 IST, by Ajita Shashidhar, Business Today, the sold-out success of the Blackberry Z3 in India means that Blackberry is at least guaranteed some measure of success with the Blackberry Passport, as the trend is definitely towards Phablets.

Apple iPhone 6 Plus launched – Phablets a Trend and success for the Passport approved

This despite my past reasoning against this overstuffed smartphone bordering on Tablets based on the dubious statistics of the analysts IDC and NPD as noted in my blog article entitled “IDC and NPD Group record Tablet Decline and Phablet Rise – “White Box” Chinese Tablets and Wearable Computing in First Quarter of 2014 making Tablets obsolete in the Year of the Sheep”.

But I guess when three analysts are saying the same thing, especially when a third analysts, Kantar Worldpanel  ComTech, based on the opinions of some 20,000 volunteers worldwide in the First Quarter of 2014 speaking with a unified voice speak via a survey, I'm left with no other choice but to declare the phablet a real trend and not a temporary one as stated in the article “The world wants a bigger iPhone and big smartphones in general”, published August 28, 2014 12:58 PM PDT by Eric Mack, CNET News.

Plus, the Cupertino Kids, clearly under pressure from this growing Trend, have finally relented and have launched a second version of the Apple iPhone, the 5.5 Apple iPhone 6 Plus, ushering in Apple to the Phablet Era that was started by Samsung.

A strange trend no doubt, but if it's real, should result in the Apple iPhone being given a new lease on life. In like manner, come Wednesday September 24th 2014, Blackberry, armed with the above facts, will prove that it's Hip to be Square.
