Boeing and Blackberry partner for Boeing Black smartphone – Putting Blackberry’s BES 12 foot forward as Apple and IBM MobileFirst for iOS on the horizon

Progress isn't always public knowledge and often the greatest enterprises are undertaken in secret. One of the most secret is slowly coming to light.

Boeing, makers of the super secret Boeing Black Android Smartphone have been confirmed to be in a partnership with Blackberry to use their BES 12 (Business Enterprise Server) Platform as stated in the article “Blackberry confirms it's working with Boeing to offer ultra-secure "spy" phone”, published December 22, 2014 By Trevor Mogg, DigitalTrends.

This announcement was made by BlackBerry CEO John Chen during a conference call with financial analysts on Friday December 19th 2014 as per his statement at the start of this article. Boeing's spokesperson Andy Lee confirmed the same with Bloomberg, quote: “….pursuing a number of opportunities….to help [BlackBerry] ensure the BES 12 operating system is compatible with, and optimized for use by, the ultra-secure mobile devices favored by the defense and security community.”

For those of you with very short memories, this is the same Boeing Black smartphone that they'd been designing since 2012.

This secretive 4.3” Android smartphome that weighs a hefty 170g finally saw the light of day in February 2014 when it was revealed in a filing with the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) as reported in my blog article entitled “Boeing Black smartphone – Ambassadors, World Leaders World phone and NSA and CIA Spy vs Spy smartphone that self-destructs in 5 seconds”.

Boeing and Blackberry partner for Boeing Black smartphone – Putting Blackberry’s BES 12 for forward

The Boeing Black smartphone is being targeted at Boeing’s many Clients and anyone who want to have a super-secure smartphone that erases its operating system and data if anyone unauthorized attempts to access the smartphone. That of course means the following people:

1.      Embassies and their Ambassadors
2.      Enterprise and Corporate Clients working with Boeing
3.      US Government spy agencies e.g. NSA (National Security Agency) and the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency)
4.      Wealthy Individuals with a need to protect their business
5.      World Leaders World and their Administrative staff

This may be their target market, but if it’s not as good looking as the Apple iPhone, it might still be a problem to back out a smartphone that's a bit dated in design. Plus, Blackberry BES 12 can make communication with any smartphone secure, as evidenced by Blackberry and Samsung making as deal to use BES 12 to make their smartphones Business Secure as noted in the article “BlackBerry to make Samsung smartphones more secure”, published Nov 14, 2014, 10.54AM IST by Reuters in The Times of India.

In the case of Apple, they don't need Blackberry BES 12, having teamed up with IBM (International Business Machines) in a partnership called IBM MobileFirst for iOS to make secure Cloud based Apps for Business that can work on Apple iOS as detailed in my blog article entitled “Microsoft and IBM for IBM MobileFirst for iOS – How Apple with IBM Cloud Computing indicates Apple-Microsoft-IBM-Google Deal Possible in the Future”.

So despite the secrecy and suggestions that this Boeing Black smartphone may have advanced biometrics as well as Lithium-Ion batteries augmented with Solar Power, this phone will have to compete. Not necessarily in the consumer market, but again other smartphones makers who are slowly signing up with Blackberry to use the BES 12 to break into the Corporate and Enterprise world seeking secure Business Applications powered by the Cloud in 2015, the Year of the Sheep.
