Why LinkedIn Instant Messaging, Private Groups, Emoji and Stickers has a Jamaican Touch

LinkedIn, a very boring a little known Social Network for working processionals, has suddenly popped up on the Social Media Messaging Radar.

This as they've launched a little talked about Instant Messaging platform on Tuesday September 1st 2015 that allows its members to talk to each other within the LinkedIn App as reported in the article “Tech Tuesday: LinkedIn’s NEW Messaging Experience”, published September 15th 2015 by Warren Knight, Business 2 Community.

Additionally, as of Friday October 8th 2015 they're also launching a private Groups App for iOS users so that professionals can apparently have private pow-wow online as reported in the article “LinkedIn retools Groups and debuts new sales metric”, published October 8, 2015 By Marc Schenker, DigitalTrends.

Along with this, they're also introducing a Sales Navigator feature that allows you to rank yourself on a scale of 1 to 100 on how well you're selling yourself on the LinkedIn platform.

LinkedIn bows to Social Media Pressure – Professionals like IM with their Black Coffee

Basically with all these upgrades, LinkedIn has finally stepped into the 21st Century, no doubt bowing to pressure from its members as reported in the article “LinkedIn Launches WhatsApp Like Instant Messenger to Connect Professionals”, published Sep 9, 2015 By Reema C'verty, The REM.

The new WhatsApp-like messaging interface that makes the Professional Networking service App worth checking once in awhile. This Messaging interface replaces their email like messaging section with a clutter-free interface that easier to navigate.

The LinkedIn invitation-only private Group App is also an answer to used complaints about self-promotion on LinkedIn and manipulation by top content contributors.

LinkedIn Groups App reminds me of the super private Facebook Rooms App that's invitation only via QR Codes as explained in my blog article entitled “Facebook launches Facebook Rooms - The 90’s Return as Facebook faces competition from Anonymous Mobile Social Networks”.

The Sales Navigator is somewhat unnecessary and only Sales and Marketing peeps will find this interesting; after all if you LinkedIn profile was already boring, there's not much you can do other than add more stuff to your resume!

LinkedIn Instant Messaging Change - Why Stickers and Emoji for Professionals has a Jamaican Touch

Messages are now easier to search and it now comes with push notifications so that you can receive messages even when you're out of data.

The Super-private LinkedIn Groups App is also great for professionals who want private groups where only your most trusted confidants can communicate as in a virtual VIP Room.

Interestingly all this has a Jamaicans connection, as the team that designed the new Instant messaging Interface has Senior Software Engineer Kamilah Taylor, a Jamaica on their team as reported in the article “Kamilah Taylor - A Jamaican Link At LinkedIn”, published Sunday September 13, 2015, The Jamaica Gleaner.

Possibly this may have also been the same design team that worked on the LinkedIn Groups App

I'm not a professional and I'm excited by this; LinkedIn is no longer boring and might be interesting enough to actually write about and possibly join as noted in the article “Instant Messenger comes to LinkedIn”, published 24th September, 2015, Firstfound.

This is where the recruiters do their headhunting, albeit I’m not looking for work anymore, being as I'm doing my Professional Diploma in Teaching at the MICO University College to teach Physics while I continue to expand on my Blogging, book Writing and Electronics and Computer Repair business.

LinkedIn even sports support for animated characters, sticker, emoji and GIFs, an apparent not to other messaging platforms such as Viber and LINE that have popularized their use as noted in my blog article entitled “Japanese Line introduces Line Call for Landline and Mobile - WhatsApp and Skype International Calling competition”.

LinkedIn may do Voice and Video Calling – Appealing to Social-Media savvy Millennial Professionals

Hopefully too, they'll also introduce Free international Voice and Video Calling like Skype and even Mobile money like Snapchat SnapCash or Facebook Cash as noted in my blog article entitled “@Facebook's Cash Transfers in Messenger – How sending cash using Facebook’s Messenger is playing Catchup with @Snapchat”.

More Social Media elements like other Social Media Networks will make LinkedIn more appealing to Millennial Professional. That translates to more good business for LinkedIn in a world that’s becoming more Social Media Networked!
