I have eaten your bread and salt,
I have drunk your water and wine;
The deaths ye have died I have watched beside,
And the lives that ye led were mine.

Google, after apparently losing their cool earlier in the year as it relates to what their Google Chrome OS could be good for after the Apple iPad landed as per my blog article entitled “Google Chrome OS and Smart Books - Connection between SSD's, Fountain of Youth and Lazarus”, have finally decided that the Gingerbread Man was just not enough.
They have now slated a conference for Tuesday December 7th 2010 at which, based on who you believe, where Google shall reveal what is anticipated to be the next best thing since sliced bread or Kim Kardashian in Victoria Secret lingerie, according to the article “Google plans Chrome OS event for Tuesday”, published December 3, 2010 2:15 PM PST by Tom Krazit, CNET News - Relevant Results.
This is also corroborated as well in the articles “Google Chrome OS may launch next week”, published Friday December 3 2010 12:21 pm ET Mark Hachman, PC Magazine, Yahoo News. and the article “Chromebook: Coming Next week?”, published Saturday December 4, 2010 3:25 pm ET by Paul Suarez, Yahoo News.
For the record, I am quoting multiple sources, as the suddenness of this announcement allegedly emanating from out of Google around the same time as rumours are flying about Google Android OS 2.3 codenamed Gingerbread makes me a tad nervous, as these news articles appear to be nothing more than speculation at best and rumours at worst.
Bad, Bad journalists, go lie down [image of dogs lying down]! So, like everyone else, I will have to sit glued to my computer awaiting live streaming o this alleged Press Event even slated to occur at 10am on Tuesday December 7th 2010 AD.
This has been a rather strange month of December 2010 AD for Google. Indeed, Carlette DeLeon aka The Pet Tales Chick aka “Dilly” of Smile Jamaica fame on Television Jamaica (now a Canis Mixup-ius Jamaicanus convert, hopefully!) may concur!
Groupon, an American Private Sector company, turned down US$6 billion dollar take-over bid (gimme it nuh Google? Here is my PayPal Account!).
This was not a good deal from the start, oweing, I fear, to the mere fact that they believe themselves to be worth a lot more as stated in the article “Groupon turns down Google's US$6 billion offer”, published Friday December 3, 2010 2:51 pm ET by Ben Parr, Yahoo News.
Yet in the same breath, they land what I would describe as being a rather generous US$6.7 billion dollar Government of the United States of America contract to provide Cloud-based services with the help of Unisys et al, ostensibly Google Docs and Google Mail (Gmail), to the General Services Administration (GSA) as stated in the article “Google scores big federal Government contract”, published December 2, 2010 9:07 AM PST by Lance Whitney, CNET News - Digital Media.
Aside from the statistically odd coincidence of the money involved (two sixes in a game of Ludi to get to Heaven!), there is also the fact that Google Chrome might be deployed in the General Services Administration (GSA).
Google Chrome is designed to work on Netbooks and Laptops, hopefully with SSD (Solid State Drives) inside, putting to rest rumours of a lacking relevance of Google Chrome as stated in the article “No silver lining in Chrome OS delays”, published November 29, 2010 4:00 AM PST by Tom Krazit, CNET News - Relevant Results. Bad, Bad journalists, go lie down [image of dogs lying down yet again]!
This is as bad as those Google Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread (already?) powered Google Nexus Two (I say!) smart phone made by Samsung (really? Do tell!!!) rumours that have been flying and floating about like Man-o-War Jellyfish.
This creature ready to poison the The Living Daylights (1978), James Bond Style, out of anyone who decides they are worth believing as stated in the article “Is Samsung making Gingerbread-powered 'Nexus' phone for Google?”, published Friday October 29,2010 4:01 pm ET By Ben Patterson, Technology Writer, Yahoo News.
Also stated in the article “More evidence of revamped Nexus phone spotted”, published Thursday November 11, 2010 2:49 pm ET By Ben Patterson, Technology Writer, Yahoo News. Whether or not there is a grotesque visage of a large Gingerbread Man on Google front lawn.
What is not to like about Google Chrome, poster child of two worlds: Cloud computing and Open Source? Chrome OS runs Apps over the Cloud [American: Streaming Internet], making single copies of programs possible, effectively a client-server relationship that is both a protection from pirates as well as cost cutting.
Hence the Government of the United States of America well placed faith in Google Apps, Street View privacy flap not withstanding and now bearing righteous 3-D fruit as stated in the article “Google Earth: Now with 3-D trees, Street View integration”, published November 29, 2010, 12:56pm PST By Sam Diaz, Between the Lines - ZDNet that would make the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) prefer using Street View over their own spy satellites.
Throw in the long time traditional support from Big Businesses with large IT overheads who like the Open Source because of all its wonderful perks, including faster bug fixes as suggested in the article “Big Business backs Linux”, published December 1, 2010, 12:36pm PST By Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols, ZDNet - Linux and Open Source, ZDNet and dedicated Penguin huggers like yours truly, a former Network Administrator from Mothers Enterprises and lover of all things Mandrake,
Effectively one would have to be of the species Canis Journalist Americanus (American Canine Journalist) to not realize that all this may be pointing to 2011 being the Year of Open Source, a per my prognostications to a group of brain-dead Shurpower Generator Engineers back in 2009. Rather long sentence, but so a short one ensues
Hopefully SSD powered smartbooks [fingers crossed] will be the big announcement. But already with a Government Contract in their belt, Google Chrome has fired a warning shot to the dominance of Microsoft, as the loss of this rather large contract to a bunch of “disorganized Googlers” should be the final insult as per the movie Naked Gun 33 1/3 - The Final Insult (1994), (rather nice movie, do watch!).
This is my wacky and offbeat tribute to Leslie Nielsen (11 February 1926 – 28 November 2010), his life as colourful as his death as per his online obituary as laid out in the Wikipedia article “Leslie Nielsen”, accessed Sunday December 5 2010, Wikipedia and the craziness that I ascribe to all this Much Ado About Nothing , William Shakespeare style as it relates to Google.
Pip, pip, off I go to see if I can scare up some Darlington transistors. I fear my radio is broke again! Excuse me………..
