The great are only great because we are on our knees. Let us rise!

The statistics from Strategy Analytics as it relates to the Apple iPad, the poster boy for the nascent Tablet trend as chronicled in my Geezam blog article entitled “Apple iPad 2 – Dual-Core Easy Skankin’” does not look good folks!
The Apple iPad is in Clear and Present Danger (1994) as Android is now cutting into the once impenetrable Apple iPad lead in the Tablet Market as stated in the article “iPad share of Tablet shipments fell in second quarter, says report”, published JULY 21, 2011 6:02 AM PDT by Lance Whitney, CNET News – iPad Atlas.
So shocked am I, I have no words, only pictures:
The Apple iPad recently took a hit, with their Worldwide Marketshare dropping from a high of 94% in the Second Quarter of 2010AD to 61% in the Second Quarter of 2011AD, a decrease of 33%. Meanwhile Android Tablets Worldwide Marketshare rose from a low of 2.9% in the Second Quarter of 2010AD to 30.1% in the Second Quarter of 2011AD, a dramatic rise of 27.2%
Naturally shipments of both types of Tablets have increased since 2010AD, an increase in sales much anticipated, as the “post-PC era” as CEO Steve Jobs intones is upon us as stated in the article “The PC isn't dead, but it's still a post-PC era”, published JULY 29, 2011 9:32 AM PDT by Gordon Haff, CNET News - The Pervasive Data Center.
A concept whose mechanics is further explained and explored in my Geezam blog article entitled “Are we witnessing Laptop and PC Extinction?”. A similar thing is happening in the book and publishing world as eReaders as my Geezam blog article entitled “InStat prediction that Tablets to Overtake e-Readers is off base” implies.
E-readers command a greater marketshare than Tablets and are much adored by women readers by a ration of 3 to 1 as stated in my blog article entitled “Women adore the Barnes and Noble Nook Colour – Free e-reader Home Improvement”
An Amazon Tablet would shake up the market, as prognosticated by Director at Strategy Analytics Neil Mawston, quote: “If Amazon decides to enter the Android Tablet category later this year, that will bring fresh excitement and buzz to the Android community, but Amazon will need to deliver a truly standout offering if it really wants to make headway against the popular iPad”.
For a bit of Perspective, Nielsen, ComScore and IDC predict Android to own 50% of the smartphone market in 2015AD as prognosticated in my Geezam blog article entitled “Apple’s Revolution: Android @ Home and IceCream Sandwich in 2015AD” and my blog article entitled “Apple + Android beat Nokia + RIM Globally - Regina Beaver's La Dolce Vita”.
Much as the Apple iPhone marketshare is under threat from Android as I had pointed out earlier in my Geezam blog article “Apple iPhone and Google Android – Helms Deep Under Attack” and my blog article entitled “Apple + Android beat Nokia + RIM Globally - Regina Beaver's La Dolce Vita”, so too is their dominance in the Tablet market
So why should I be surprised the same thing is happening in the Tablet Market?
Because I was expecting it to take years, at least until 2012AD before a real tablet contender came along, based on the soothsaying words of iSuppli of the absence of competition until 2012AD as stated in the article “No iPad killer coming until 2012, says iSuppli”, published Thursday August 26 2010, 1:59 pm ET by Barbara E. Hernandez, Yahoo! News and chronicled in my blog article entitled “Apple iPad and the Competition - The Rescuers”.
The Apple iPad’s 94% dominance in the Second Quarter of 2010AD was possible, it seems, thanks to their only competition being the Samsung Galaxy P1000 Tablet as my Geezam blog article entitled “Samsung Galaxy – Apple iPad’s Contender for Christmas” points out.
Samsung, who is also a component supplier for Apple, did very well that Christmas of 2010AD, with people purchasing their smartphones and Tablets as stated in my blog article entitled “Samsung and the Galaxy of Tablet and Phones - Lucky Charms for London Olympics 2012”.
Early signs of stolen thunder in the Fourth Quarter of 2010AD!
Apparently encouraged by Samsung’s foray into Tablets, computers and smartphones makers from the Far East i.e. Samsung, Sony, Lenovo, LG, Acer, HTC, Asus as well as from Silicon Valley i.e. Dell, Motorola, RIM, Hewlett Packard planning to or already launching a Tablet as stated in the article “Did the iPad really lose a big chunk of share to Android?”, published JULY 24, 2011 5:11 PM PDT by Brooke Crothers, CNET News - Nanotech: the Circuit Blog.
There is also the rising market for “white label” Tablets, as stated in my blog article entitled “Apple iPad vs “White Box” Tablet - Jason's Argonauts Home Improvement The Next Big Thing” and the article “Asus Transformer & Asian Tablets vs Apple iPad - Vybz Kartel's Straight Jeans & Fitted Big Trouble in Little China” many of which are powered by Google Android, which may also explain this surprising surge!
Google, with their latest update Google Android 4.0 aka IceCream, intends to take over the Electronics world as chronicled in my Geezam blog article entitled “Apple’s Revolution: Android @ Home and IceCream Sandwich in 2015AD”
A now obvious Clear and Present Danger (1994) for the Apple iPad!
Shipping tons of Android tablets to resellers who can't sell them is only a short trend. There is an iPad market not a tablet market! The HP tablet is dead and being sold for less than the cost of the parts. The Android tablets will soon follow.
