Microsoft it seems is pushing ahead with its plans to fully integrated Skype into Windows 8, which launched to much fanfare along with the Microsoft Surface Tablet on Friday October 28 2012AD as stated in “Microsoft Surface Now Available at Microsoft Retail Stores”, published October 26, 2012, Microsoft News Center and “Microsoft re-imagines Windows software”, published Friday, October 26, 2012 By Paul Rodgers Business Editor, The Jamaica Observer.

Microsoft has decided to completely replace Messenger with Skype as mentioned in their blog post in the article entitled “Microsoft: Skype and Messenger coming Together”, published 6 November 2012 by Mary Jo Foley, ZDNet via CNET News. As the quote above suggests, this is sooner rather than later, with Messenger being killed off in time for the New Year. Microsoft is definitely doing its best to get deep into the VoIP Side of the Telecoms field.

Only this time, Microsoft is using the already popular VoIP Video Calling and Chat portal Skype, which Microsoft had already acquired back in May 2011AD for some US$8.5 billion dollars as reported in my blog article entitled “Microsoft aquires Skype for US$8.5 billion - Miley Cyrus's Fly on the Wall Drops it Like its Hot” and deeply integrated into Facebook two (2) months later as I later noted in my blog article entitled “FaceBook Deeply Integrates Skype - Microsoft and The LadyKillers”.

This move effectively means that the Microsoft Surface as mentioned in my blog article entitled “Microsoft debuts Windows 8 with new Surface Tablets - PixelSense rebranding as the Dark Knight Rises to defeat PC World” bristling with the new Windows 8 OS will be getting a Skype upgrade. Ditto this too for the new Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 smartphones as described in my blog article entitled “Nokia launches the Lumia 820 and 920 - Lumia prostituting with the Microsoft Surface Tablet in a Resident Evil Retribution 3D”.

Folks, Microsoft is effectively becoming a lot more like Apple and is showing the early birth pangs of ecosystem rivaling Apple but geared towards productive work and collaboration on the go. Now with Skype to fill in the Video Calling Collaboration side of things with the free version of Skype already monetized via advertising as stated in my blog article entitled “Skype's Ads on Free VoIP heralds coming of Free Mobile VoIP - Video Calls not problem as LIME LTE soon tun up”, this may herald another FaceTime moment for a revival of Video Calling.

The Microsoft Surface Tablet, which also launched along with Windows 8 to rather long lines as surprisingly observed in the articles “At the moment, Microsoft Surface is hot”, published October 27, 2012 12:48 PM PDT by Brooke Crothers, CNET News and “Wait a minute. Is this an Apple store?”, published October 26, 2012 1:15 PM PDT by Shara Tibken, CNET News is smoking hot. With Portability and Microsoft’s Productivity Suite in the form of Microsoft Office, it’s no wonder that the long lines are for; Microsoft is slowly building a credible alternative to the Apple iPad.

So much so that the GOJ (Government of Jamaica) which plans to go with Tablets to save on paper, may be going with the Microsoft Surface line of Tablets and its Nokia 820 and 920 smartphones for its Parliamentarians as predicted in my blog article entitled “GOJ Parliamentarians upgraded to Microsoft Surface Tablets and GovNET Wide Area Network - Minister Paulwell efforts to reduce paper may accelerate Jamaican Tablet Adoption”.

With Microsoft’s Telecom partner Nokia sporting smartphones that support Microsoft Office, productive work can finally take place on these smartphones, which mainly were little more than rivals to PSP (PlayStation Portable). A solid Pitch Perfect (2012) Tablet and Smartphone Ecosystem for the Corporate Road Warriors both in the US of A and Jamaica as the Microsoft Surface and the Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 smartphones already bristly with Microsoft Office now comes packed with Skype.
