Apple to launch TV and a Cloud Gaming Console in 2014 - How the Apple iTV and Television Set can kill The Grandmaster in the guise of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft

Ever since the Google Chromecast burst onto the scene on Tuesday July 24^th 2013 as described in my blog article entitled “Google launches a 4G LTE Google Nexus 7 and Google Chromecast Streaming Device - Uninspired Tablet upgrades but US$35 Google Chromecast is the Streaming World's Blue Jasmine”, Streaming and Broadband Internet’s been poppin’ on my blog.

So much so that an old blog article entitled “Traditional News Media vs Broadband Telecoms - GigaOM's Avoiding ELE After Deep Impact” on the future prospects of Streaming over Broadband Internet eventually killing off Traditional Media and possibly ways to avoid their ELE (Extinction Level Event) is kicking up a small storm in a teacup on my blog.

With an Apple invite coming anytime soon to announced the Apple iPhone 5S and its gold-plated cousin and the “C is for Caring” Apple iPhone 5C as opined in my blog article entitled “Apple to launch the Apple iPhone 5S and a S$199 Contract-less Apple iPhone 5C on Tuesday September 10 2013 - ATL and LIME Jamaica may not get Goldfinger that's Made for China”, the question now begs: what does Apple have that’s new?

I dealt with that in my blog article entitled “ATL is now the Official Distributor of Apple Product in Jamaica as of July 2013 - Jamaica can now share in the innovation with Apple’s Future Products Despicable Me 2” in which I predicted these new products to be as follows:

1.      Apple Television Set

2.      Apple iRadio

3.      Apple iWatch

4.      Apple Mac Pro, which is much improved and possibly made in the US of A

Strictly speaking the Apple iRadio isn’t a product more than it’s an upgrade of Apple iTunes to incorporate Streaming. Still, if Apple introduces it to revive sales of the Apple iPod Classic, the Apple iPod Touch, the Apple iPod Nano and the Apple iPod Shuffle then these would be new products. First concept of their kind: Hardware with dedicated Radio Station build by the same company, albeit not the first time I’ve seen or heard of a Streaming Radio station Device.

The Apple Mac Pro’s expected just in Time for Christmas 2013 and Apple’s already announced this at WWDC (World wide Developers Conference) as stated in the article “Apple's next Mac Pro goes peek-a-boo at WWDC”, published June 10, 2013 11:13 AM PDT by Marguerite Reardon, CNET News.

That leaves the Apple iWatch and the Apple Television set, BOTH of which are the only fictitious products that Apple is allegedly working on for which Apple has made no announcements or confirmations. Apple is said to be in negotiations with HBO, ViaCom and ESPN to provide content for their Television set or possibly for the Apple iTV as stated in “Apple said to be eyeing HBO, Viacom, ESPN as TV partners,” published August 22, 2013 9:37 AM PDT by Don Reisinger, CNET News.

At this point I’d like to suggest a new product …..an Apple Gaming Console called the Apple GameBox, signaling a departure from the use of the “i” prefix in Apple products as has been rumoured since April 2012 in the article “Apple game Console rumoured for 2012 launch”, published April 19, 2012 By Brendan Sinclair, CNET News.     

This product would be a no-brainer (American Colloquial) as opined by CNET Editor Scott Stein in his article “Why an Apple TV game Console is a no-brainer”, published August 9, 2013 7:59 PM PDT by Scott Stein, CNET News.

Already there is the Crowdfunded Boxer9's Ouya Gaming Console and PlayJam's Gamestick Consoles as described in my blog article entitled “Google Android powers Boxer8's Ouya, PlayJam's GameStick and Nvidia's Project Shield - Stand Up Guys are making Open Source and Open Architecture a $ellebrity” that have been launched but are basically off to a shaky start and lack a cohesive line of custom-Developed Android Games! So the field is still ripe for the picking with great interest based on the nascent success of these Crowdfunded Gaming Platforms.

Apple  would upgrade both the hardware and the software of the Apple iTV, thus far No.2 in the Streaming Device in the market as described in my blog article entitled “Parks Research says Roku Streaming Box is Consumer favourite - Traditional Jamaican Free-to-Air Broadcasters in a state of Paranoia over Streaming” and former deceased CEO Steve Jobs Hobby with software upgrades to make it into a Gaming Console.

The gaming controller could be the Apple iPhone itself or Apple could simply design the controller (possible innovation there) to be either a physical device or something in the same league as the Microsoft Kinect as stated in my blog article entitled “Nintendo Wii vs Microsoft Kinect - War of the Worlds in Jodine Spark's BattleField”.

Physical upgrades to the Apple iTV could be as CNET Editor Scott Stein described but I’m a lot more ambitious:

1.      12 Core processor taken from the newly revamped Apple Mac Pro

2.      GPU also take from the newly revamped Apple Mac Pro

3.      4 TB SSD (Solid State Drive) Hard-drive

4.      512 GB RAM

5.      Support for IEEE 802.11ac or Gigabit Wi-Fi

6.      Support for Cloud Based Gaming as described in my Geezam blog article entitled “Nintendo and Sony vs Smartphones and Tablets: Post – Portable Gaming Era”

7.      4 Thunderbolt Port

8.      Synching Gaming with the Apple iPhone and Apple iPad

9.      Support for Siri Voice Assistant

10.  Price: US$199 or US$99 if you carry in your old Apple iTV and swap it for a new one

With an aggressive pricing strategy and Game Developers in its Apps Store rearing to go, this would make the Apple Television set that’s alledged to make it’s debut in 2014 as stated in “Apple once again rumored to be working on ‘iTV’ for 2014 launch”, published Aug 16, 2013 at 8:30 PM By Brad Reed, BGR, a must-have companion to such an amped up Apple iTV.

Apple has already introduced IEEE 802.11ac for most of its products that use Airplay for streaming as stated in “Google and Console Makers Beware: Apple Already Has the Makings of a Great Game System”, published July 01, 2013 By Jared Newman, Techland. 

And during the WWDC conference on the week of Monday July 8^th 2013, Apple had introduced a set of standards for physical Game controllers to be connected to their Apple iPhone and Apple iPad for the purpose of developing Console Games as stated in the article “How Apple Will Kill Gaming Consoles”, published August 1 2013 by Jonathan Geller, Variety.

With Google and even Amazon allegedly planning to design, build and launch a Google Android Gaming Console sometime in 2014 as stated in the article “Google said to be creating game Console and smartwatch”, published June 27, 2013 3:45 PM PDT by Dara Kerr, CNET News and “Amazon may be revving up its own Android game Console”, published August 9, 2013 5:27 AM PDT by Lance Whitney, CNET News, Apple may really have no choice!

As was the case with the Apple having to make the Apple iPad Mini to counter the growing threat from 7” Tablets such as the Amazon Kindle Fire as described in my blog article entitled “Apple iPad 3 Launch on March 2012 - Amazon Kindle Fire is a Sweet Dream but a Beautiful Nightmare for Apple”.

This may be the case with the cheaper US$199 Apple iPhone 5C and Gold-plated Apple iPhone 5S, as Apple is under pressure from Cheaper smartphones invading the still untapped Developing World Markets such as China as opined in my blog article entitled “Apple to launch the Apple iPhone 5S and a S$199 Contract-less Apple iPhone 5C on Tuesday September 10 2013 - ATL and LIME Jamaica may not get Goldfinger that's Made for China”.

This upgrade of the Apple iTV and the coming Apple Television Set may be How the Apple iTV and Television Set can kill The Grandmaster (2013) in the guise of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft!
