US$179 Moto G debut on Wednesday November 11 2013 from Motorola - Google's Quad-Core Budget smartphone is Free Birds for the Lost 500 million sheep

Google owned Motorola has surprised us yet again with another smartphone the US$179 Moto G that has the smartphone styling of a more expensive model as stated in the article” Motorola unveils budget smartphone, aimed at world”, published Wednesday, November 13, 2013 11:24 AM, The Jamaica Observer.

With such a low price, the Motorola Moto G is poised to be the revolution that Google has been promising as stated in “With Moto G phone, Google's mobile revolution now plausible”, published November 13, 2013 7:15 AM PST by Stephen Shankland, CNET News.

This is the same Moto G smartphone that Google had teased about in save-the-date invites for an event on Wednesday November 13th 2013 as stated in “Google's Motorola teases Moto G event on November 13”, published November 4, 2013 4:19 AM PST by Roger Cheng, CNET News.

And in case you’re thinking it’s a budget smartphone, it isn’t as bad as the pricing suggests as noted in the article “Motorola Moto G is a quad-core, colorful smartphone for $179”, published November 13, 2013 6:00 AM PST, CNET News. In case you think this is just another low end phone, look at this handy Comparison chart from the Verge that shows you the Motorola Moto G compared to the Nokia Lumia 520, ZTE Open and the Samsung Galaxy Ace 3!

The prices are as follows:

1.      8GB for US$179
2.      16GB for US$199

Check the specs on the Moto G and decide for yourself:

1.      OS: Google Android Jelly Bean
2.      Processor: Quad-Core Qualcomm  1.2GHz
3.      Wireless Internet: 3G, Wi-Fi
4.      Screen: 4.5-inch screen 720p with 329 pixels per inch resolution
5.      Rear Facing Camera: 5-megapixel camera
6.      Battery Life: 2,070mAh

This is good enough for taking pictures worth posting on any Social Network or even a Mobile Social network such as Snapchat. A Basic smartphone on the same level as the Digicel DL600 and sans a 2 year contract is a true Christmas Treat that’s hard to beat!

It also comes in some smashingly great colors:

1.      Red
2.      Blue
3.      Pink
4.      Black
5.      White
6.      Aquamarine
7.      Yellow

Good to note here that the DL600, which also is packing Google Android Jelly Bean and is now being heavily promoted by Telecom Provider Digicel as stated in my blog article entitled “Digicel officially launches DL600 smartphones on Friday October 18th 2013 and JA$100 2-Day Data Plans - Ours is the Fury as Digicel’s DL600 secures their Throne in this Game of Phones against LIME”.
.

Moto G - Pretty much this is Christmas and New Years for Google Android supporters

These smartphone surprises from Motorola are sorta expected, given their launch of the customizable Made-in-America Moto X smartphone on Thursday August 1st 2013 as described in my blog article entitled “Google and Motorola Mobility launch the customizable Motorola Moto X - Motorola Moto X is The Wolverine of Customization that’s Made in America”.

Google’s aim with this smartphone is clear; they’re targeting the 500 million strong “below US$200” worldwide crowd that can’t afford high end smartphones, be they Americans or other countries. Reality is that most of us, including yours truly, still aren’t sold on the idea of paying in excess of US$600 for a smartphones, a price that can now easily buy three (3) Desktop computers and still have money left over to pay for Internet access.

Albeit a little pricey, the fact that the Motorola Moto G may be getting Google Android Kitkat by January 2014 makes it a great way to celebrate the New Years as well. Customization is also a great selling point and as long as it’s packing Wi-Fi it’ll be a hit with Millennials (ages 18 to 28) looking for a great deal.

Plus you can always buy a MiFi separate and apart and share Internet access among your friends, so goes the reasoning among Teenagers (ages 13 to 18), making the Motorola Moto G a great stocking Stuffer for Christmas !

Stay tuned for more details on the Moto G! Here’s the link for the Motorola Moto G:
