LIME's Postpaid Plus and JA$200 per week Blackberry Plans - Browse and Talk is proof that Postpaid and Data Services are all the Rage as MNP and LNP approaches on May 2014

Telecom Provider LIME has certainly been on the offensive since August 2013 against Digicel’s DigiHome Product with TalkEZ Plan and cheaper 30-days, JA$300 3G Data plans and even Alcatel One Touch T-Pop for free as stated in my blog article entitled “LIME Jamaica introduces 30-day Data Plans for JA$300 and a free Alcatel One Touch T'Pop - How the Butler started the Smartphone Data Revolution”.

Now they’ve responded to Telecom Provider Digicel’s revamped Postpaid products as stated in my blog article entitled “Digicel Upgrades Smart and Value Postpaid Plans to Smart Postpaid Plans geared towards smartphones - More helpings of Data and International Calling Bundles is How I Live Now” with their own brew, so to speak, called Postpaid Plus, based on the advertisement below.

Postpaid Plus is really an upgraded versions of LIME Ultrapak where the Customers only have to shell out an extra JA$500 have to the convenience of Postpaid and not have to bother with topping up whenever credit runs out. Best of all is the one flat rate to call everyone and free nights and weekends, an offer sure to make anyone a night owl!

Telecom Provider LIME has also cooked up something special for Blackberry Customers worried about being left in the cold or harbouring thoughts of buying Digicel’s DL700 smartphones as noted in my blog article entitled “Digicel has launched the DL700, an upgrade to the DL600 on Friday December 6th 2013 - The Alcatel One Touch Pop C3 is Digicel’s latest Unicorn that may be harder to catch”.

They’ve come up with another Blackberry Plan in the same vein as the 30-days, JA$300 3G Data Plans. In this new Blackberry plan you can get Blackberry service for JA$200 per week as shown below.

Postpaid and Data Services are now all the rage with the Telecom Providers, who are now catching on to the demand as the lower rates makes Postpaid Services more attractive as predicted in my blog article entitled “OUR Records Voice Decline for the Fourth Quarter of 2010 - Postpaid, Data Services and Fixed Line Mobile and Landline Saturday Night Fever for Telecom Providers” and “OUR Telecom Provider Stats indicate JA$14 billion profit for Second Quarter of 2011AD - Telecom Providers Stacking up all Faces on the Argo Video Calling and VoIP on smartphones”.

By May 2014, when MNP (Mobile Number Portability) and LNP (Landline Number Portability) kick in as originally reported in my blog article entitled “OUR sets Cross-Network Rates at JA$1.10 as of Monday July 1 2013 - Everything is Possible as we’re Zombies for Data World War Z”, Jamaicans will be spoilt for choice as it relates to Postpaid Services in Jamaica.

LIME Browse and Talk – ADSL suddenly has a new spring in its step

Telecom Provider LIME has also been touting its Browse and Talk to Residential Customers as a means of reviving its sagging ADSL Packages, who’ve bees switching to Triple Play Provider FLOW’s Surf and Chat. Browse and Talk comes in two distinct flavors as shown in the ad below.

Browse and Talk is also a defense against Telecom Provider Digicel’s DigiHome product launched in September 2013 that’s basically a Postpaid Fixed Line and 3G Data Service as stated in my blog article entitled “Digicel rolls out DigiHome, their first Residential Postpaid Fixed Line Service - Ramp up for Landline Number Portability and LIME’s Homefone Xpress”.

LIME’s responded to DigiHome and the coming MNP/LNP Scenarios in May 2014 has resulted in them rebranding and re-launching of ADSL (Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line) products under three (3) Business Packages as described with my blog article entitled “LIME rolls out new Business themed ADSL and Local and International Landline Calling Bundles - DigiHome offense could Herald the coming of LIME FTTH and relaunch of LIME TV”.

So for those considering their options, Browse and Talk is basically ADSL Packages that combine the ADSL Data Service with the Landline Voice Service via one flat low rate in two (2) distinct plans as shown below:

1.      Mega Plus Plan - 2 Mbps – JA$2,500 per month

2.      Mega Extreme Plan – 8 Mbps – JA$3,300 per month

Not so crazy about these name as the speeds are not as the names imply. But as its Broadband which usually has better Latency and thus better Browsing even at lower speeds than Mobile Broadband, I’ll overlook this foible of marketing on the part of Telecom Provider LIME!

The following caveats apply though:

1.      No line Rental

2.      Browse and Talk Plans last for thirty (30) days at a time

3.      Bill have to be paid three (3) days prior to the Due Date

4.      Balances can be checked via call Toll Free to 1-888-429-5987

To call numbers outside of those listed above, dial 103 before the number or use a Jus Talk Calling Card….if you can find one that is, as they’re only easy to find in the Tourist Resort areas!

Dual-SIM Smartphone Storm is coming – Tablet manufacturing opportunity beckons

Already too, based on my sources in the smartphone business in New Kingston, Telecom Provider Digicel and Telecom Provider LIME are already offering MNP and LNP to business customers on a trial basis. That’s the usual shtick; Business people as the guinea pigs to test out a new Service before they roll it out to the general public.

So come May 2014, MNP and LNP for Residential customer will be marked by an increased interest in Dual-SIM Smartphones as predicted in my Geezam blog article entitled “Trend towards Dual-SIM Smartphones developing in Jamaica as MNP Approaches”.

They’ll also be an increased interest in smartphones and Tablets in the US$200 affordable sweet spot now that Christmas 2013 sales of Digicel DL600 and DL700 has whetted our appetites for these budget smartphones and Tablets as noted in my blog article entitled “Jamaicans falls in love with Digicel's DL600 and DL700 during Christmas 2013 - Sub-US$100 smartphones driving rapid smartphone adoption in Jamaica as Manufacturing is Possible”.

Samsung smartphones, already all the Rage in Jamaica, will benefit according to my smartphone source in New Kingston as noted in my blog article entitled “Samsung to launch Dual-SIM Samsung Galaxy Core in May 2013 as Dual-SIM Smartphone Trend accelerates”.
