Ministry of Health gearing up for Chikungunya Virus Epidemic - Aedes aegypti Mosquito loves the French as it Island-Hops to Jamaica

“While we have not yet seen the disease in Jamaica, the Ministry of Health continues to put measures in place as part of our preparedness plan. The virus is spread by the Aedes aegypti mosquito which also spreads dengue and so we have an advantage in terms of being able to use a similar approach,”

The Ministry of Health is stating that Jamaica will soon to be hit by a Chikungunya Virus, which, ironically, is carried by the same Mosquito, the Aedes aegypti that carries Dengue Fever as stated in “Health ministry says Mosquito-Virus attack on Jamaica is imminent”, published Tuesday May 13, 2014, The Jamaica Gleaner and “Health Ministry prepares as Chikungunya spreads across Caribbean”, published Sunday, May 04, 2014 10:13 AM, The Jamaica Observer.

St Lucia is now bracing for an outbreak in their country as the Warm and Rainy weather is making conditions perfect for the Aedes aegypti Mosquito to spread the Chikungunya Virus  further as stated in “St Lucia Bracing For More Cases Of Chikungunya Virus”, Published Sunday May 11, 2014 12:15 pm, The Jamaica Gleaner.

With PAHO (Pan-American Health Organisation) reporting some 4,100 Cases in the Caribbean, expect to see the Ministry of Health trying to kill us all again with their Malathion Spraying as they’d done before in my blog article entitled “Ministry of Health attempted murder of Ocho Rios High School in St Ann by spraying Malathion - Malathion Spraying and Destroyers ban needed and Citronella Candles and Education introduced”.

Symptoms of the Chikungunya Virus look an awful lot like Dengue Fever:

1.      Headache

2.      High fever

3.      Joint pain

4.      Muscle pain

5.      Rash

Looks like now would be a great time to start stocking up on Citronella Candles instead of cancer-causing Mosquito Destroyers as explained in my Geezam article entitled “How to make Environmentally Friendly Citronella (Lemon Grass) Oil for Mosquito Repellant Lotion and Candles” and a Good Mosquito Zapper.

This follows on the heels of the Caribbean Public Health Authority declaring Chikungunya Virus a Caribbean Pandemic in May 2014 after detecting the disease first back in December 2013 in St. Martin. Apparently, the St. Martin peeps, being that their island is so small that you can hear your neighbors think, seem to have a problem with preventing Water gathering in areas where water gathers.

This creates Breeding ground for the Aedes aegypti Mosquito, who then went on a rampage for the past five (5) months, engaging in island hopping and spreading the Chikungunya Virus in the following Caribbean countries, who coincidentally are French:

1.      Martinique

2.      Guadeloupe

3.      St Martin

Worse, the Hurricane Season hasn’t started yet, albeit the Rainy Weather here in Jamaica is ramping up already, making things just perfect for them. It has already reached Antigua in April 2014 and St. Vincent in early may as reported in “More cases of chikungunya reported in St Vincent”, published Saturday, May 03, 2014, The Jamaica Observer and “Chikungunya virus recorded in Antigua”, published Friday, April 25, 2014 1:45 PM, The Jamaica Observer

respectively!

The Chikungunya Virus is now at the backdoor as now Haiti, a mere 120 miles away. Haiti has reported cases of the Disease with three (3) women in Miami confirmed as having caught it in that Caribbean Country in the article “Three Florida women report acquiring chikungunya fever in Caribbean” , published  Friday, 05.16.14 BY JACQUELINE CHARLES, Miami Herald..

And yes, Haitians speak French.

Clearly this disease loves the French as they seem to love island-hopping among their own island a lot. So albeit we don’t speak French, a good Language to catch, we can still contract the Chikungunya Virus from anyone that speaks French.

So Jamaicans, make sure you’ve got the following stocked in your medicine cabinet:

1.      DEET

2.      IR3535

3.      Lemon Grass Candles and spray aka Citronella Oil

4.      Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus

5.      Picaridin

I still speak French, but I’m not Haitian and I’m NOT contagious! Right now I’m stocking up on Citronella Candles and I’m getting my Zapper ready, as this doesn’t look good. Dear Reader, you need to do the same!
