Apple iPhone 6 ahead in Q1 of 2015 based on @K_Worldpanel Stats - Phablets are hot as Apple Watch Summer Storm coming

The Apple iPhone 6 is now tops in yet another arena that Samsung helped to create that of course being phablets as reported in the article “iPhone 6 Plus leads phablet sales in US”, published May 6, 2015 by Lance Whitney, CNET News.

According to the latest stats from analyst Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, the Apple iPhone and the Apple iPhone 6 Plus did well in the US of A in the First Quarter of 2015:

1.      21% of all smartphone sales
2.      44% of all phablet sales were the Apple iPhone 6 Plus

Among Americans, the main reason for choosing the Apple iPhone 6 as opposed to the Samsung Galaxy S5 was the screen size:

1.      43% of iOS users
2.      47% of Android users

The larger screen popularity is even more evident when compared against all the other Apple iPhones in the US:

1.      18% are Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus
2.      64% are Apple iPhone 5, 5S and 5C collectively
3.      18% are older Apple iPhone 4, 4S models

When the Kantar Worldpanel ComTech stats for the First Quarter are broken down by Carriers, they were the top choice with the big four (4) carriers:

1.      59% on AT&T's Network
2.      43% on Verizon's Network
3.      50% on Sprint's Network

Only T-Mobile was showing some love for Samsung, with their smartphones taking the lion's share with 42% of sales on that carrier's network.

Apple iPhone 6 Plus ahead according to the Kantar World Panel Stats - Apple Watch set to take Wearables by Storm

This isn't very surprising, as the Apple iPhone 6 Plus was a favourite among Christmas 2014 shoppers in the US of A, according to  Kantar Worldpanel ComTech stats for the Fourth Quarter of 2014 as noted in my blog article entitled “Apple beats Android by a nose in the US of A - EU loves Apple but in China Xiaomi mojo is strong as India beckons”.

But as I've said before, the real magic of the Apple iPhone is its ability to be an Android Whisperer.

The Apple iPhone 6 is proving to be an excellent Android Whisperer, encouraging many to jump from the free-for-all Google Android World into the Walled Garden that is Apple iOS. Again the Kantar Worldpanel ComTech stats for the First Quarter bear this out:

1.      11.4% left Android for Apple
2.      14.6% left Android for Apple in the First Quarter of 2014
3.      5.9% left Apple for Android
4.      9.8% left  Apple for Android in the First Quarter of 2014

Simply put, the Apple iPhone 6 Whispering Effect is strong, albeit considerably weakened when compared with the same period in 2014. But the Whispering Effect of Google Android is also waning as well and was and still is very small. Users, it seems, like the confidence of a fully designed product instead of a product that seems to be half-baked and experimental.

The same love for a fully built product also seems to be the main drive for the continued popularity of the Apple iPhone 6 in Europe as noted in the article “iPhone 6 Plus leads a surge in US phablet sales”, published May 7, 2015 By Liam Tung, ZDNet , with Kantar Worldpanel ComTech stats making it clear that it's true for the British as well.

With the second Quarter of 2015 coming to an end, it would be interesting to see what Kantar Worldpanel ComTech stats have to say about the popularity of the Apple Watch vs all other smartwatches, given its Celebrity endorsements as noted in my blog article entitled “Apple Watch delays on Pre-Order Day – How to Sell a Wearable using Apple Watch Edition on Celebrities and Third Party Wristbands”.

I have a feeling that Apple has a really big hit on their hands, as the Wearables market is theirs for the taking by Storm!
