Samantha J now an International Recording Artiste signed to Columbia Records - Touring the US of A caught their All Seeing Eyes

It’s now clear that the 17 year old artiste from Ocho Rios, Samantha J is headed for great things. Signed and managed by the trio Si Mi Yah Talent Agency, Washroom Entertainment, and overseas entertainment company Oceanic Tradewinds, her song is an answer to Red Rat’s Song Tight up Skirt as stated in “Samantha J fresh on the scene with 'Tight Up Skirt'”, published September 9, 2013, The Jamaica Star.

The easy-on-the-eyes songstress with the squeaky voice is now on a pathway to super-stardom after having been signed to Columbia Records on Tuesday May 26^th 2014 while on a promotional Trip in the United States of America as stated in “Columbia signs Samantha J”, published Monday, May 26, 2014 BY KEVIN JACKSON Observer writer, The Jamaica Observer.

This record deal is on the same level as Tessanne Chin signing to Universal Records after she had won The Voice on Tuesday December 17, 2013  as stated in my blog article entitled  “Tessanne Chin is the Winner of the Voice - Princess Kitana #BreadandButter work begins as March 2014 deadline for Universal Studios album from Mona Tessanne”.

Only this time, it was based on her youthful charisma expressed in her breakout hit “Tight Up Skirt”, which was posted on August 2013 and went supernova back in September 2013 as stated in “Samantha J's 'Tight Skirt' a hit”, published September 25, 2013, The Jamaica Star. Fun fact: Samantha J, born Samantha Gonsalves in 1996 was only one year old when Red Rat sang the song Tight up Skirt in 1997! Ironically, I was 17 years old that year and I was just coming to Kingston to do my Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications in the Engineering Department at UTECH (University of Technology)!

After taking the bait to sing the answer to Red Rat’s Song by Washroom Entertainment, she’s now on the pathway to becoming a superstar in the US of A after having appeared on MTV’s Buzzworthy as stated in “Samantha J hits MTV Buzzworthy - Singer's music video to air today”, published October 1, 2013 by Sadeke Brooks, Staff Reporter, The Jamaica Star.

What followed next was a tour of the American East coast covering such cities as listed in “Samantha J tours American east coast”, published Tuesday, November 12, 2013, The Jamaica Gleaner:

During the whirlwind tour in November 2013, her schedule was apparently very light and seemed to consist of Radio and Television Interviews. Starting off in Tampa bay Florida, she met 300 fans at the Brandon Mall during an outside broadcast with Beat's 95.7 FM DJ Sandman, Jimi O and Shizm.

Later Jamz Miami 99 FM had her over in their studios for a chit chat with Programme Director, Derrick Baker, Assistant Programme Director Tony Neal, and Afternoon Drive personality Lorenzo Thomas.

North Carolina's WPEG Power 98 FM gave her high marks in their interview, with a follow-up interview with WJHM Jamz 102 FM in Greensboro within the same state having a live sit-down interview with her. In Richmond, Virginia, Virginia Beach's Boys and Girls Club came out in their hundreds to see her along with YouTube superstar, Andrea Russett.

A follow up tour in January 2014 cemented her popularity, choosing again to tour with Andrea Russett. More interviews again, this time a live televised interview with AJ Hammer's Showbiz Tonight on HLN that had her rattleing off about her journey to superstardom. BET did a repeat with the hosts Bow Wow and Keisha Chante taking turns chatting up the now glowing seductive Samantha J on BET's iconic 106 & Park.

While all this was going on, her single was STILL hot now getting heavy rotation on American Radio Stations even as her popularity in Jamaica was being overshadowed by the ongoing troubles of Vybz Kartel. Sirius/XM The Heat, Power 105 NYC, WJMN Boston, and WZMX Hartford are a mere handful of the 50 that were pressed with demand to play her songs over and over again repeatedly in a country that's more into Streaming that Radio.

With that much exposure, it was only a matter of time before Columbia Record Executives attentive Gaze was fixated on her and saw the potential in the artiste, resulting in a signing in late May 2014.

How @Digiceljamaica and @FlowJamaica's 4G LTE Adoption may use Budget Tablets

Both Telecom Provider Digicel and Telecom Provider LIME are gung-ho about 4G LTE (long Term Evolution).

They are BOTH dedicating sizeable chunks of their financial muscle towards building out their 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) Networks in the next 18 months as stated in my blog article entitled “LIME and Digicel have purchase AWS and 700 MHZ Spectrum for 4G LTE - Spectrum Purchase by the Number with Strings Attached as Ministry gets kitty donations from Local Telcos”.

So what’s the state of the build-up of their Telecoms Infrastructure prior to going Supersonic by October 2015, 18 months from now and just in time for Christmas 2015? Especially in light of the fact that we’ve slipped yet again in the WEF’s (World Economic Forum) GITR (Global Information Technology Report) 2014 and IDB (Inter-American Development Bank) DigiLAC Indices as stated in my blog article entitled “Jamaica 86th in the WEP GITR 2014 Rankings – UNCHR Rights to Broadband Legislation to financial empower Jamaican and Caribbean Nationals”?

Telecom Provider Digicel – 25% Profit from ICT Start with Upgrades to 3G Network

Telecom Provider Digicel has already begun upgrades to their “4G” Infrastructure, which is really faster 3G, according to Digicel's Chief Technology Officer, Krishna Phillipps as stated in “Digicel says mobile 4G now 92% population coverage”, published Tuesday, May 20, 2014 10:18 AM, The Jamaica Observer.

A Digicel Press Release fielded by Digicel's Chief Technology Officer, Krishna Phillipps indicates their main contractor, Ericsson, has been a busy little honey badger, quote: “Digicel is already making significant headway in increasing Jamaica’s mobile broadband footprint in every parish and ensuring that people across Jamaica have access to the fastest and most reliable mobile broadband network. As part of the recent expansions, we deployed 170 new 4G Mobile sites across the island to expand coverage and increase 4G Mobile capacity in all 14 parishes. We also deployed 17 new 2G and 4G sites to improve coverage in many rural areas”.

The news seems to be getting better for customers in the remotest parts of Jamaica. This is especially true as it relates to their access to Data Services, in which Telecom Provider Digicel is set to grow by 25% as reported in my blog article entitled “Digicel to invest US$85 million in 4G LTE Network - 25% of Total revenue from ICT as 4G LTE Investments designed to weather the coming Summer WhatsApp Storm”.

Distribution Director at Digicel, Patrick King throws some more stats on their Data Bonfire by the Seaside, quote: “We have seen an increase of over 200,000 subscribers on our 4G Mobile network over the last quarter and over 70 per cent increase in subscribers using our data plans as customers better manage their mobile internet experience”.

So taking their word at face value, are we looking at an improvement in access to Wireless Broadband among Jamaicans? First, attitudes towards Broadband have to change.

Telecom Provider LIME – Wireless Broadband as a way to put Meat on the Table

As I’d pointed out in my blog article entitled “Blogging Competition as Digicel Teams up with The Jamaica Observer to celebrate World Telecommunications Day”, Telecom Provider LIME isn’t doing much this year.

In terms of promotions, they’re basically been rehashing their Talk EZ Plans, even as WhatsApp threatens to make Voice Telecoms extinct by June 2014 as stated in my blog article entitled “WhatsApp VoIP Calling in Second Quarter of 2014 - WhatsApp kills International Calling at the Advent of Facetime-eqsue Premium Video VoIP Calling on smartphones”.

Still they’re pushing forward in their ramp-up towards deploying their 4G LTE Network with assistance from their Telecom Equiptment Supplier Ericsson as stated in “LIME invests billions in mobile network”, published Monday May 19, 2014, The Jamaica Gleaner. World Telecommunications Day saw them highlighting a study done jointly by Telecom Equiptment Supplier Ericsson and Sweden’s Chalmers University of Technology that indicates a strong connection between access to Wireless Broadband and Increased Earnings.

According to their Study, in Developed World countries like the US of A, Canada, Japan, South Korea and EU (European Union), the increase in Annual Incomes of Homes saw a dramatic rise:

1.      U$2,100 (JA$230,000) in the Annual Incomes of homes with 4 MBps Speed increase

2.      U$1,500 (JA$165,000) in the Annual Incomes of homes with 8 MBps Speed increase

In Developing World Countries like Jamaica, the increase in Annual Incomes of Homes isn't as much, but it's still significant:

1.      U$800 (J$88,000) in the Annual Incomes of homes with 0.5 MBps Speed increase

2.      U$600 (J$66,000) in the Annual Incomes of homes with 4 MBps Speed increase

To this end, Telecom Provider LIME is selling Wireless Broadband, specifically Browse and Talk as described in my blog article entitled “LIME's Postpaid Plus and JA$200 per week Blackberry Plans - Browse and Talk is proof that Postpaid and Data Services are all the Rage as MNP and LNP approaches on May 2014” on the idea that merely possessing it makes you wealthier, which is isn't true.

This is really dependent on how Jamaicans use Broadband to make money online, which according to the Dr. Hopeton Dunn Caribbean ICT Indicators and Broadband Survey in 2011 STILL centers around Social Networking as lamented in my Geezam blog article entitled “Jamaica’s Low Net Penetration – Broadband Internet A Universal Right”.

The Study also makes no recommendation for the implementation of the UNCHR (United Nations Charter of Human Rights) as it relates to Access to Broadband Internet, something that is necessary to empower citizens with the idea that having access to Broadband is a right on the same level as access to Electricity and Potable Drinking Water.

If Telecom Provider LIME really is selling Wireless Broadband on the idea that it makes more money, they need to sponsor FREE Seminars or disburse step-by step information in the form of e-books, YouTube Videos and other forms of Social Media as well as published material detailing step-by-step how to make money online.

This in a manner similar to how I’ve published suggestions to kickstart this desire among Jamaicans by showing them a pathway to making Money online as stated in my blog article entitled “How Jamaicans can Legally make US Dollars as Freelance worker Online - Jamaican Flexworking to make money from the Internet”  and via EBay as stated in my blog article entitled “How to make money as an EBay Seller online - Everything in Jamaica from Rare Coins to Unique Craft Items”.

Telecom Providers and 4G LTE Adoptions – Budget Tablets with Microsoft Productivity Software Needed

Making money, especially now, is the imperative for most Jamaicans as stated in my blog article entitled “Jamaica's 700MHz Spectrum Auction fails to attract bidders on Friday October 11 2013 - Jamaicans Lack interest in Broadband Internet and no Telecom Regulator for the Sector”. Thus adoption of 4G LTE is dependent on whether or not having Faster Speed Wireless Broadband will increase my life chances or will just make my Facebook and Instagram Accounts load Faster.

Most Jamaicans still don’t have low cost access to a Desktop or Laptop computer, one of the issues mentioned in the Dr. Hopeton Dunn Caribbean ICT Indicators and Broadband Survey in 2011 as a Barrier to Access to Broadband Internet.

To this end, BOTH Telecom Providers need to not only agitate the GOJ (Government of Jamaica) for UNCHR (United Nations Charter of Human Rights) as it relates to Access to Broadband Internet to be implemented, but also to provide cheaper devices. We now have cheaper smartphones as explained in my blog article entitled “Digicel reports increases in Data Services, DL600 and DL700 sales in 2013 - LIME's all about the Benjamins from 4G LTE making Digicel Captain America The Winter Soldier”.

To do meaningful work online, we need devices for content creation. Current Tablet designs just don’t have the processing power, Memory, SSD (Solid State Drive) Space, software and ease of use to be useful.

The New and improved Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is a glimmer of hope in the Tablet World with its meatier processor and Microsoft Office Software and other software Tools for on-the-go Content Creation as described in my blog article entitled “Microsoft launches Surface Pro 3 - Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 puts Kibosh on Tablets with Apple having to make a larger Keyboard iPad”.

Hopefully, other Tablet Makers will take their design cues from Microsoft and make Tablet that is not only good at playing Fruit Ninja, but also at getting actual work done. Lower the prices and make the Tablets affordable and the local Telecom Providers worry about adoption of 4G LTE will be a lingering thought.

This as a budget Tablets that has Microsoft Productivity Software and other Software on it will hasten 4G LTE Adoption as was the case with the DL600 and DL700 smartphones as explained in my blog article entitled “Jamaicans falls in love with Digicel's DL600 and DL700 during Christmas 2013 - Sub-US$100 smartphones driving rapid smartphone adoption in Jamaica as Manufacturing is Possible”.

2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season looking Fairly Quiet - How Hurricanes are formed as Hurricane making Landfall equals Disaster

Looks like we’re in for a wild ride, Jamaican and Caribbean people! And here was I thinking that the spreading Chikungunya Virus Epidemic in the Caribbean was bad enough, as it’s yet to be reported in Jamaica as I’d predicted in my blog article entitled “Ministry of Health gearing up for Chikungunya Virus Epidemic - Aedes aegypti Mosquito loves the French as it Island-Hops to Jamaica”.

This 2014 Hurricane Season, which begins on Sunday June 1^st 2014 and ends six months later in November 2014, isn’t here yet, but looks like another wild ride as stated in “Near normal or below normal hurricane season predicted”, published Friday, May 23, 2014 3:08 PM, The Jamaica Observer. You can read the full prediction and get important updates direct from NOAA via the article “El Niño expected to develop and suppress the number and intensity of tropical cyclones”, published May 22, 2014, NOAA News.

It’s looking a lot calmer than last year’s Hurricane Season, which Neville Bell of Television Jamaica Fame had spoken of, naming Hurricane Barbara to start things off rolling as stated in my blog article entitled “Neville Bell Hurricane Barbara the first for Atlantic and Pacific Hurricane Season starting Saturday June 1 2012 - Caribbean theatre for the Class of Hurricanes in Monsters University”.

The names to be used for this year’s 2014 Hurricane Season are as follows and are actually based on names handed down by the National Hurricane Center:

According to NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Administrator Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, this years is below or just average in terms of Hurricanes expected to form in the Atlantic Hurricane Region. Those odds, for the bookies reading my blog and getting ready to place their bets, read as thus:

1.      50% chance of a below-normal season

2.      40% chance of a near-normal season

3.      10% chance of an above-normal season

4.      70% likelihood of Hurricanes in the Caribbean this year

This Region is defined as:

1.      North Atlantic Ocean

2.      Caribbean Sea

3.      Gulf of Mexico

In terms of the number of Hurricanes, this translates as thus:

1.      8-13 named Storms

2.      3-6 hurricanes 

3.      1-2 Category 3, 4 or 5 hurricanes (winds of 111 mph or higher)

For those that are non-weather oriented, these Atmospheric anomalies translate as follows:

1.      Storms have winds of 39 mph or higher

2.      Hurricanes have winds of 74 mph or higher

3.      Category 3, 4 or 5 hurricanes start at wind speeds of winds of 111 mph or higher

El Nino is on our Side – Takes only one Hurricane making Landfall to cause a Disaster

The reason for the below-par Hurricane Season?

Blame the El Nino effect, which is apparently on our side. This as it makes Hurricanes more difficult to form via the following actions

1.      Strong Shear Winds that tear Storm Cell formation apart, making hurricane formation off the coast of Africa difficult

2.      Strengthen the Trade Winds coming off Africa

3.      Reduce the warm water effect off the coast of Africa

So El Nino is a good little boy this year, apparently to quote NOAA Administrator Dr. Kathryn Sullivan: “And even though we expect El Niño to suppress the number of storms this season, it’s important to remember it takes only one land falling storm to cause a disaster”.

True indeed! Right now I’m in Kingston. I’ve already begun tracking the Hurricane formation and making plans to go home to Milk River, Clarendon instead of risk being Trapped in Kingston. Folks, be prepared!

Binary Black Holes and 48th Magnetar Westerlund 1-5 - Magnetic Personality in Space as Black Holes feed on Stars

“Not only does this Star have the high velocity expected if it is recoiling from a supernova explosion, but the combination of its low mass, high luminosity, and carbon-rich composition appear impossible to replicate in a single Star -- a smoking gun that shows it must have originally formed with a binary companion”

Dr. Ben Ritchie astronomer from UK's Open University and co-author of a paper who co-wrote the paper on the discovery of Westerlund 1-5 Magnetar

The Universe is full of some truly astounding astronomical wonders. So much so that the field of Astronomy was originally the focus of the earliest Universities in Africa, hence the name “University”!

There have been some noteworthy discoveries, including the discovery of an earth-like exoplanet Kepler-186f in the Constellation Cygnus as stated in my blog article entitled “NASA discovers earth-like exoplanet Kepler-186f in the Constellation Cygnus - 500 light years is awfully far distance to buy beachfront property”. Only a matter of time now before the Kepler Telescope is back online and other larger Space based Telescopes with better resolution to be built in the future discovery intelligent life on a planet.

So while trolling through my archive of article, I stumbled across this incredible astronomy discovery of a Magnetar and a Binary Black Hole by two separate Teams of Astronomers as stated in “Stars play a game of cosmic Catch, create rare Magnetar”, published May 14, 2014 12:03 PM PDT by Michael Franco, CNET News and “Pair of Supermassive Black Holes Spotted”, published April 23, 2014 by Janet Fang, I Fucking Love Science.

I gravitated towards this story because the workings of how they both formed are similar: a Binary pair of stellar objects. In the case of the formation of the Magnetar, it involved a smaller Star and a bigger companion on the verge of a exploding into a supernova.

48^th Magnetar in the Milky Way Galaxy – How to gain a Magnetic Personality in Space

That Magnetar was discovered by the team at the European Southern Observatory located in Germany with their VLT (Very Large Telescope) as stated in “Stars play a game of cosmic Catch, create rare Magnetar”, published May 14, 2014 12:03 PM PDT by Michael Franco, CNET News.

The Magnetar, Westerlund 1-5, located some 16,000 light years away in the Westerlund 1 Star Cluster, Started originally as a Star of about roughly 50 to 100 solar Masses orbiting around a smaller Star, probably about the size of the Sun.

It is one of 48 discovered by Astronomers thus far and are one of the rarest and most exotic forms of Neutron Star Known to astronomers and was published in the Journal, Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Because of the massive gravitational pull of the Bigger, more unstable Star, it began to draw off gouts of matter from its smaller companion. Eventually, the increasing mass of the Bigger Star cause it to go Supernova.

But instead of collapsing into a Black Hole, thanks to the excess mass and possibly because the smaller Star re-absorbed back some of the mass it threw off, it collapsed into a rapidly spinning core of Protons and Electrons, which under the immense Gravity were crushed into a Neutron Pulsar.

The excess mass it began to pull off from the smaller Star again, now reborn like a phoenix as Neutron Star accelerated its spin and thus created a spinning outer layer of ferrous material as well as non-ferrous heavier elements, like a large M&M Candy. Thus this spinning gaseous plasma made up of metal became Magnetized and thus the Magnetar was born.

Another Team member, Francisco Najarro of Spain's Centro de Astrobiología in his statement confirms this material-swap theory of Swirling Ferrous and Non-ferrous Plasma as being the source of the Magnetar incredible Magnetic power, quote: “It is this process of swapping material that has imparted the unique chemical signature to Westerlund 1-5 and allowed the mass of its companion to shrink to low enough levels that a magnetar was born instead of a Black Hole”.

A Pair of Black Holes in an Ordinary Galaxy – Binary Black Holes take turns at Star Feeding

The second discovery involved a dancing pair of Black Holes that were discovered swirling around each other in a two (2) million year dance of Death as stated in “Pair of Supermassive Black Holes Spotted”, published April 23, 2014 by Janet Fang, I Fucking Love Science. 

Dr. Fukun Liu, Astronomer at the Peking University, who had borrowed time on the European Space Agency’s, XMM-Newton (X-ray Multi-Mirror Mission) discovered this duet on Thursday June 10^th 2010 thanks to mere chance; the pair were taking turns ripping matter off a nearby Star, an event which gave of a strong enough radiation signature and thus attracted their attention to study the situation more closely.

In doing a random sweep of the sky on Thursday June 10^th 2010, the XMM-Newton noticed an ejection of X-Rays on a massive scale in the Galaxy named SDSS J120136.02+300305.5. Nothing unusual, just another X-Ray burst, possibly a Pulsar. Except it was from a from a quiet Galaxy, which wasn’t supposed to be actively producing Pulsars and whose Galactic Center was shrouded in Dust clouds, indicating no Star, just stuff to make them.

Then it did the unusual.

Radiation levels dropped to almost zero for 21 days between 27 and 48 days into observing this X-Ray Burst, which was by then going on for weeks. The X-Ray Radiation Level returned to normal and faded a few days later, again for the 21 day period.

This suggests that at some point in time, something was ripping material off the Star, accelerating the material in a magnetic field and thus creating X-Rays. This other object must have had a very massive gravitational field to be doing that and be producing X-Rays, suggesting that the Star had a Black Hole as its companion, very likely as it was at the center of the SDSS J120136.02+300305.5 Galaxy

But it was the period of the dip in X-Ray Radiation that tipped off Dr. Fukun Liu that suggested something else was at play here. The sudden dip in radiation suggested that another large mass, probably another Black Hole or a Neutron Star was also feeding on the same Star. More interestingly, the almost-zero X-Ray Radiation was the result of BOTH objects feeding on the Star simultaneously, suggesting that these two massive objects were rotating around each other and thus taking turns to feed on the Star.

As one got closer, it fed on the Star, which the other was swinging away, putting the Star out of its gravitational reach. Then as their orbits around each other made them equidistant from the Star, for a brief period of time, they were BOTH feeding at the same time.

Then as their orbits resumed, one would be closer and feeding exclusively while the other would be unable to feed from the Star. This would return the X-Ray Radiation patterns to previously predictable patterns.  In looking at the Radiation Data more closely, Dr. Fukun Liu, realized that they'd discovered a pair of Black Holes feeding on a single Star, a rare find.

His theory on binary Black Holes rotating less than 0.6 milliparsecs (2 thousandths of a light year), roughly the width of the Milky Way Galaxy, may have been proven correct with this discovery.  The Thursday June 10^th  2010 Pair of Black Holes was exactly as Dr. Fukun Liu had predicted; gravitational dimming caused by each Black Hole taking turns to feed on the radiation of the Star, temporarily snuffing out the X-Ray Flare from the matter being ripped off the Star's surface.

Eventual, according to his Model, the 2 Black Holes are expected to merge in the next 2 million years. When this occurs, if you eyes could see in X-Rays, it would be the strongest source of X-Ray Radiation and create a deep stirring in the Dark Matter pond that is the Known Universe, to quote Dr. Fukun Liu: “The final merger is expected to be the strongest source of gravitational waves in the Universe”.

Too bad I won’t be around to see it. But perhaps we can harness our understanding of Plasma Jets and Rotating Magnetic Fields to create localized Magnetars on Earth as described in my blog article entitled “KAIST developes DCRS, a long-range Wireless Charging Technology - IEC Charger Standards now obsolete as KAIST makes an Earth based Magnetar” so as to power the Next Generation of Starships that can travel to the Stars in Galaxies far, far away!
