CPJ introduces Ready to Cook Pork – Why Jamaicans don’t like Pork solved by making Pork ready under 30 Minutes

“It doesn't get better than this - just thaw and cook, and the instructions are on the label”

CPJ's Processing and Meat Plant Consultant, Richard Hall, in an interview at the CPJ Montego
Freeport plant with the Gleaner Food team on Saturday August 23rd 2014

Pork is not exactly a favourite of Jamaicans, but the reason thus far isn’t clear.

So much so that back in October 2011 the GOJ (Government of Jamaica) did a six (6) months US$93,000 (JA$8.4 million) Study funded by the JSIF (Jamaica Social Investment Fund) as stated in the article Pig study to gauge Pork possibilities”, published Thursday, October 06, 2011 JIS, The Jamaica Observer.

The purpose of the study was to determine why Jamaicans don’t eat as much Pork as our American or European counterparts. The main reason I’ve concluded back then was that most Jamaican simply didn’t know how to cook Pork as stated in my blog article entitled Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Pork PR for increased Production - Jamaicans don’t like Pork Because they cannot cook it”.

So it’s nice to learn that a local Agricultural Processor CPJ (Caribbean Producers Jamaica) has stepped up to the plate, so to speak. They have met Jamaicans half way by offering Ready to Cook Pork in July 2014 that’s vacuum sealed and microwavable to eat as stated in the article “PORK doesn't get better than this! CPJ unveils Ready to Cook Meat”, Published Thursday August 28, 2014, The Jamaica Gleaner.

Good to note here these are the same persons who back in February 2014 were considering the growing of Rabbits for sale of Rabbit Meat to the Public as stated in my blog article entitled “Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited to go into large-scale Rabbit Farming - Rabbit Farming is Viable as you just Ignore their Cuteness and slaughter the Bunnies”.

Rabbit Meat has the potential to be huge, although I’m still awaiting News on it though. But what about Pork? Can the CPJ succeed where the JSIF and the Ministry of Agriculture has failed?

Why Jamaicans don’t like Pork – Statistics and the fact it takes too long are the main culprits

Please note my blog article isn’t based on the JSIF Pork Study, as I haven’t got access to it, although I can request it under the Access to Information Act!

Some quick stats on the Pork Industry in Jamaica:

1.      6,500 people employed
2.      1% to of Jamaica's GDP (Gross Domestic Product)
3.      US$12.2 million of Imported Pork

In terms or production, Pork was on a high:

1.      5.5 million kilograms in 2002
2.      9.1 million kilograms in 2008

After 2009, the year the Recession hit the US as noted in my blog article entitled EU, USA and the Second Recession - Economist Dennis Chung's Andromeda and The Long Night”, production dropped and is still spiraling downwards:

1.      2 million kilograms in 2007
2.      737,527 kilograms in 2009

This shocking drop is what the JSIF Study sought to explain which my article has pretty much done. We're not eating more imported Pork, as even that's too expensive when compared to regular Meats like Chicken, Goat, Cow Meat and Beef. Rather, as a fast-food country, we just can't take the time and patience to cook Pork, as it requires too much cooking and attention.

To expand on my blog article entitled Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Pork PR for increased Production - Jamaicans don’t like Pork Because they cannot cook it” you don’t use oil to cook Pork, but rather use a Pressure Cooker or direct flame on the seasoned Meat i.e. Jerking or Baking in an Oven. Frying Pork is a contradiction, as it’s mostly fat and you can remove it and use it to basically fry in its own fat at high heat. This is very unhealthy by the way, as Pork contains a lot of unhealthy so-called unsaturated Trans-Fats.

Most Jamaicans don not known this, as Pork has never been a part of our diet since slavery and Colonial times; we’re mostly a nation that grew up on Chicken, Goat, Cow Meat and Beef. The habit of having a Pressure Cooker or a Grill as part of your Kitchen or even the habit or cooking over an Open Flame of using the Oven to cook meals on a daily basis just isn’t traditional of the typical Jamaican!

Probably Maroons or people living in Rural Jamaica still cook with an Open Flame. But people living in Urban areas such as Montego Bay in St. James, Manchester in Mandeville, May Pen in Clarendon or Kingston in Kingston and St. Andrew cook over a stove, typically with an Oven, with the Microwave being used to heat up food or prepare Popcorn.

We’re more of a fast-food culture which the Ministry of Health is considering Taxing in the form of a “Junk Food” Tax as detailed in my blog article entitled “Min. of Health, Dr. Fenton Ferguson proposes financing Health Care via a Fast Food and Junk Food Tax - Jamaican High Schoolers Addiction to American style Fast Food”.

Food ready under 30 minutes, as anything beyond that is considered as taking too long by Jamaicans now thoroughly addicted to Fast Food from Burger King, KFC, Wendy’s, Juici Beef, Tastee and even Island Grill.

SDA and Rastafari – Small numbers and Contradictory behaviour cannot influence Eating Habits

Thus the difficulty of Cooking Pork using a Pressure Cooker or direct flame on the seasoned Meat means hours in the kitchen using up lots of Cooking Gas instead of just a quick in-and-out of the kitchen in under 30 minutes is the main reason for the dislike for Pork. This is usually what many Jamaicans housewives and even experienced chefs dread; it has to be done right otherwise it won’t taste good.

We also have an anti-Pork culture made mainly of Rastafarians and Seventh Day Adventists, but their group is too small to influence the population at large to not eat Pork. Many claim this is the reason why we don’t eat Pork. But that’s not logical, as more than 10% and closer to 40% or 50% of the population would have to be Rastafarian and SDA (Seventh Day Adventists) for them to have that level of influence over Jamaican eating habits and for this to be logically true.

Plus by right, SDA aren’t supposed to eat Meat in the first place and many ACTUALLY eat Meat, including Pork, under the cloak of secrecy at home or whenever the Boston Jerk Festival rolls around! The fact that they eat Meat means there’s little to stop them from eating or even tasting Meat that’s Pork disguised as Chicken or some other popular Jamaican Meat or even the sauce being made from Pork Oil, as I’ve mentioned above.

This contradictory behaviour in the eyes of many Jamaicans, along with other unusual Food eating habits, make them bad influences to the General Population, especially as their Religion is so anti-Secular and by virtue of their Sabbath-keeping practice, sets them apart from a society that still works on the weekends.

Add in the fact that it’s expensive and you might mess it up in the kitchen and Jamaicans will naturally stay away from dabbling in Pork. Finally, there’s the fact that Pork is normally associated with Boston Jerk Pork, the main form of Pork that Jamaicans know. To that end, many Jamaicans eat Pork, but only on the occasion when it’s Jerked.

And yes, that’s true for BOTH SDA and Rastafarians!

Ready to Cook Pork – Less hassle in the kitchen to cook a Meat that’s hard to cook

CPJ is celebrating 15 years in Jamaica. Thus it’s quite fitting that they’ve chosen to launch this product that’s made from 100% Jamaican Pork, which is a great way to support the JPFA (Jamaica Pig Farmers' Association) in getting more Jamaicans to eat Pork.

This initiative just might work, as it’s similar to Bacon option at Mothers Enterprises Restaurants where you have the option to supersize your Chicken or Beef patty with strips of Bacon or extra Cheese if you ordered a Hamburger. Bacon is Pork folks, and to humans, even Jamaicans, it’s irresistible.

This after their initiative to introduce Jamaicans to Pork via Pork Patties failed in spectacular fashion back in 2009 as stated in Pork patties, anyone?”, published Monday, September 21, 2009 by Garfield Myers Editor-at-Large South/Central Bureau, The Jamaica Observer.

CB Group had also tried, investing some JA$400 million to convince Jamaicans to eat Pork back in 2011 as stated in the article CB spent $400m to get more Pork eaters”, published Wednesday, April 06, 2011, The Jamaica Observer. But to no avail, with their development of vacuum-sealed plastic container being a possible consolation prize for having failed to crack the Pork Market, as making Meat stay fresh longer seems to have made all their Meats, including Pork, sell faster.

This is far different.

Basically this is Pork cuts from the shoulders and butts that have been pre-cooked, most likely using a Sous Vide method to seal in all the natural juices and prevent contamination as described in my blog article entitled US$169 Anova Precision Cooker is the Sous-Vide Immersion Cooker for the Masses – Sous-Vide for the Regular At-home Chef is the George Foreman Grill of Immersion Cooking Internet of Things”.

This most likely involves the Pork being first cured in a Curing Cabinet. Then it’s tenderized using papaine, mechanical tenderization or using a Pressure Cooker, Sous Vide Style so that it doesn’t lose it body or savour.

Then it’s cooked further in a manner based on the type of Ready to Eat Meal being offered:

1.      Mesquite
2.      Mojito
3.      Jerked Pork
4.      Shoulder Roast

The Meat once cooked, it is then vacuum-sealed in a manner similar to how CB Group currently vacuum-seals their Meat in plastic containers, saving on the use of Styrofoam in their packaging as described in my blog article entitled CB Group's Safe Food Movement Vacuum Sealed Tray-less Meats - Trend toward Vacuum Sealing in Jamaica to stretch Food Budget and reduce Refrigeration”.

CPJ is going places with Pork – Rabbit Meat and Wines are next on the Jamaican Menu

CPJ is definately taking the JPFA places with their line of Pork Products, to quote CPJ's Processing and Meat Plant Consultant, Richard Hall: “We have an exceptional relationship with the Jamaica Pig Farmers' Association.....We have the traditional, streaky loin and we have the only jerked bacon on the market”.

CPJ markets Ready to Eat along with their line of other products:

1.      Breakfast sausages
2.      Chorizo
3.      Italian
4.      Jerked Bacon
5.      Pepperoni
6.      Picnic Hams

Interestingly they sell Ham Steak, for those of you who are fans of such strange Meat hybrids, to quote CPJ's Processing and Meat Plant Consultant, Richard Hall: “We are the only company that does ham steak - a good choice for breakfast”.

So will Ready to Eat be a hit? When I see Pork being eaten everywhere in Swallowfield near to the National Stadium and in Milk River, Clarendon on the South Coast, I'll be the first to blog about this phenomenon, Statistics and all!

Alaine and Christopher Martin on Tour in Africa – Denyque is Reppin’ for Millennials on DRS 2014 as they'll return with Ebola Virus

“It's one of those feelings that you try to pinpoint one word that would truly express how you feel, but you can't really put your finger on the word so it is an awesome...awesome feeling. Growing up and hearing that we're all from Africa and being able to go there and witness it for yourself, to see the people and feel the love it's an awesome feeling. Words can't explain”

Reggae Artiste Christopher Martin commenting on his upcoming tour of Uganda starting on Friday September 5th 2014 in Africa even as an Ebola Virus Epidemic ravages West Africa

Jamaica is not a country with a high Risk of the Ebola Epidemic coming from West Africa says Minister of Health Dr. Fenton Ferguson, according to the Horse’s mouth, The Jamaica Information Service in the article “Jamaica Not in High Risk Category for Ebola”, published August 7, 2014 By Latonya Linton, The Jamaica Information Service.

We’ll likely not become a part of the 20,000 dead from the Ebola Virus that the WHO (World Health Organization) predicts will die before the West African and now DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) as stated in my blog article entitled “WHO confirms Ebola Virus outbreak in DRC different from West Africa - Ebola Virus Brothers from the same Zaire Strain Mother”.

So why would Reggae Artiste Alaine Laughton and her equally talented compadre Christopher Martin decide to go to Africa knowing full well that there’s a full scale Ebola Virus outbreak ravaging parts of the continent as stated in the article “Jamaican artistes head to Africa amidst Ebola outbreak”, published Friday, September 05, 2014 BY RICHARD JOHNSON Observer senior reporter, The Jamaica Observer?

Alaine and Christopher Martin on tour – Denyque is Reppin’ for Millennials on DRS 2014

Possibly because the money is that good, especially for Alaine Laughton, who’ll be missing her hosting of Rising Stars to go on a tour of Africa and possibly bring us back the Ebola Virus. Her actions suggest rather strongly that the Rising Stars gig is just volunteer work in order to maintain her presence in the consciousness of her fans in-between tours and albums.

Alaine Laughton hasn’t put out any new albums or significantly new music since 2014, making the Rising Stars gig something she did just to burn some time. Alaine Laughton’s tour of Africa is set to be awfully long, resulting in her missing out on most of the Rising Stars Season.

Apparently her management team needed to get paid fast, so the Africa Tour did the trick! So imagine my surprise when none other than the “SuperGirl” Denyque was schedule to make her debut on DRS (Digicel Rising Stars) 2014, replacing Alaine. My Twitter post on @lindsworthdeer sums it up quite nicely

So yes, this is a shocking development. I suspect you might want to hear one of her latest hits as well, as it’s not bad, albeit a little bit dated, being a throwback to a 90’s House Pool Party Vibe sans the nosy next door neighbours complaining about the noise!

So yet again, queue the song “How We Rave” by Denyque to give you an idea as to the type of music she produces.

To show you how big a fan I am, I even up and changed my Wallpaper to Denyque, an event I again tweeted on my @lindsworthdeer Twitter Feed.

Denyque a Rising Stars Judge – The ONE time I’ll Watch a Television Jamaica as we may die from Ebola

Folks, this is significant, as in on an astronomical, Earth-moving scale. No, I’m not referring to Denyque coming on Digicel Rising Stars, as her music is great whether not she appears on Television Jamaica. Albeit to be honest, if she’s on then I’ll watch Digicel Rising Stars Television Jamaica.

With more Millennials (ages 18 to 28) like Denyque hosting shows on Television Jamaica, they’re showing steady signs of improving competitive against the more virile CVM TV that’s now packing Scandal, Suits as state in my blog article entitled “CVM TV's Suits Scandal - Why Couch and Studio get Bigger as Torrenting and Streaming are King and Broadcasting Commission is powerless” and a plethora of fresh new Comedies and Soap Operas.

Television Jamaica recently revealed that JA$300 million is being spent on upgrades to their all-encompassing Streaming Platform as explained in my blog article entitled “RJR Communications Group Launching TVJ Everywhere - How Streaming TVJ Everywhere will boost Advertising Revenue as Digicel and LIME TV coming”.

So a younger, more youth-oriented image may be what Digicel Rising Star may be going for to pull in more Millennial viewers and boost their viewership and voting on the show. To this end, Supergirl Denyque fits the bill perfectly.

Alaine and Christopher Martin in Africa – They may return to Jamaica with Ebola Virus

But Denyque on DRS 2014 indicating that Television Jamaica is going through a mid-life crisis isn’t the real news here, dear Reader!

Rather, it’s the fact that when Alaine Laughton and Christopher Martin return, they’ll have to be quarantined and blood samples take to make sure that they don’t have the Ebola Virus. This as often when artists go on tour, they may end up being invited to go elsewhere, be it within Africa or Europe. They too are on a high alert for persons travelling from countries that have the Ebola Virus.

So if at any point they have to travel to any of the West African countries infected by the Ebola Virus i.e. Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria or DRC, even for a stop-over, they’ll be regarded with suspicion.

Especially as the Ebola Virus appears NOT to be spreading out of West Africa, but merely re-emerging elsewhere in the African continent, such as in DRC, formerly Zaire! This suggests that the Virus may re-emerge elsewhere over the span of time that Alaine and any other artiste plans to travel to the African Continent.

As if they manage to slip back into the country after their “awesome” tour without being thoroughly questioned and possibly quarantined, we may be looking on an Ebola Virus outbreak as I’d predicted in my blog article entitled “Trinidad PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar's CARICOM Meeting - Preventing Caribbean Chikungunya Virus and Ebola Virus Epidemic by Christmas 2014”.

So will Alaine Laughton and Christopher Martin return back to Jamaica with the deadly contagious gift of Ebola Virus instead of Reggae Music? We’ll know, as when they return the Traditional Media and Celebrity Bloggers will be interested to see where else in Africa they went. The Media will be all over them, watching them every time they cough, wipe sweat from their brow or complain of having a Fever.

24 Chikungunya Virus Cases - Ministry of Health PR Game as Mr. Baugh states Chikungunya Virus Cases underreported

“This is a very serious situation and even with health practitioners warning of the impending increase in the rates of infection, there is still a garbage problem in many areas of the country and many areas where mosquitoes can find fertile breeding grounds. We also need the citizens of Jamaica to take the cleanliness of their surrounding seriously and check to see that there are no mosquito breeding places in and around your home and community."

Opposition Spokesman on Health Dr Kenneth Baugh concerned NSWMA and the Ministry of Health not taking Chikungunya Virus outbreak seriously

On Sunday August 31st 2014 on the cusp of the New School Term starting on Monday September 1st 2014, Director, Emergency, Disaster Management and Special Services, Dr Marion Bullock DuCasse, confirmed tests conducted by CARPHA (Caribbean Public Health Agency) on four more people suspected of being infected with the disease.

We now have an official total of 24 persons infected with the Chikungunya Virus as stated in the article “Four Additional Cases Of Chikungunya Confirmed”, Published Sunday August 31, 2014, The Jamaica Gleaner and “Three additional Chikungunya cases confirmed; total now at 24”, published Friday, September 05, 2014 9:47 PM, The Jamaica Observer.

I say official as for some time I’ve suspected that the infection rate might be higher. Again the same summary:

1.      2 imported cases
2.      1 case that's not quite defined i.e. the Post Graduate UWI Staffer
3.      21 local infections

However, something doesn’t appear to be right here. Given the conditions known to exist in Jamaica as it relates to our gullies and uncleaned drains, especially in Portmore, one would expect that the rates of infection would be much higher. Simply put, is the Ministry of Health telling the truth?

24 Chikungunya Virus Cases – The Numbers don’t add up given the 50 suspected cases

So too does Opposition Spokesman on Health Dr Kenneth Baugh, who suspect that the official numbers of those being infected by the Chikungunya Virus may be a lot more as stated in “Chikungunya not being taken seriously by authorities, says Baugh”, Published Saturday September 6, 2014 5:01 pm, The Jamaica Gleaner and “Chikungunya cases being under reported, says Opposition Spokesman on Health”, published Saturday, September 06, 2014 | 4:44 PM, The Jamaica Observer.

Opposition Spokesman on Health Dr Kenneth Baugh, who has complained that the NSWMA (National Solid Waste Management Authority) doesn’t appear to be taking any extra step to collect garbage as it's creating breeding sites for them, especially now that the Rains have begun to fall, quote: “Many more people are being afflicted by this illness and are not being recorded and these low numbers could lull people into false sense of security”.

The Ministry of Health doing clever PR (Public Relations) using Director, Emergency, Disaster Management and Special Services, Dr Marion Bullock DuCasse to hide the true extent of the spread.

This seems to be corroborated by JLP (Jamaica Labour Party) Caretaker for St Thomas Eastern, Delano Seiveright, who has been receiving reports from constituents in and around Nuts River, Morant Bay, Lyssons, Airy Castle, Port Morant, Duckenfield, Hampton Court and Bath claiming that they’re showing symptoms of the Chikungunya Virus as stated in the article “St Thomas overrun by Chikungunya  --  Seiveright”, published Sunday, September 07, 2014 12:42 PM, The Jamaica Observer.

Rightly so, MP for North East St Elizabeth Raymond Pryce has lashed out on the behalf of the PNP (People National Party) by accusing Delano Seiveright of inventing statistics as stated in the article “Pryce, Seiveright Clash Over Chikungunya Under Reporting Claims”, published Monday September 8, 2014 10:46 am, The Jamaica Gleaner. In so doing, he's pretty much the made the issue a political one.

I began to suspect that myself after it was made known that there were some 50 suspected cases yet only 17 confirmed since Wednesday August 17th 2014 as stated in my blog article entitled “JA$12 million for Vector Control by Minister of Health - 50 Suspected Cases indicates Panic, not Chikungunya, is spreading”. So where are these 50 suspected Cases exactly, as the Ministry of Health isn’t forthcoming with the information.

The infected parishes officially are, AGAIN oddly:

1.      Kingston and St. Andrew
2.      St. Thomas
3.      St. Catherine
4.      St. Ann

No increase in the infected parishes still? Something isn’t right here folks!

Dr. Baugh suspects foul play – PR Mis-information as Chikungunya Virus underreported

This would logically imply that more suspected infected would exist, probably ballooning past 100 by now. But because the rate of testing is so slow, there is now way to keep track of them. Plus, official numbers reflect those positively confirmed with disease; the suspected cases are underreported as the Ministry of Health may be trying to avoid a mass Panic over this disease.

Ever since I’ve returned to Swallowfield near the National Stadium, I’ve noticed that the level of awareness of the disease among the residents of the community is very low, even though in Swallowfield, there is a Basic School within the community near to Bob Allen Drive that’s right beside a large Canal. I hardly see anyone rubbing on DEET or even wearing long-sleeved clothing on their children, as they still are allowed to play outside, be it at day or night.

Truth be told, there is no such thing a day or night biting mosquito; the Aedes aegypti mosquito bites to get blood, be it day or night, to reproduce and have young. All mosquito bites must become suspect, especially among the elderly and the children, who tend to be indifferent about being bitten by insects.

Also the Ministry of Health isn’t clear on whether or now the Chikungunya Virus can be spread by other mosquitoes, such as the anopheles Mosquito, as it strikes me as might odd that if a mosquito can bite and withdraw blood with each bite, thereby carrying your blood in their gut and proboscis when they bite someone else as they all do, what’s to stop them from being vectors for this disease as well?

Portmore under siege – Uncleaned Canals allows Aedes aegypti mosquito multiplies unchecked

Apparently the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education didn’t see it fit to do anything about the canal behind this particular school as they’ve been doing elsewhere as noted in my blog article entitled “Education and Health Ministries Meet before 2014-15 Academic Year - How to Stop Chikungunya Virus spread by Aedes aegypti Mosquito among Children”.

I’m getting the eerie feeling that no drain cleaning and no mass spraying using Malathion is being done as I’d suspected the JA$12 million for the Ministry of Health was allocated to do as stated in my blog article entitled “JA$12 million for Vector Control by Minister of Health - 50 Suspected Cases indicates Panic, not Chikungunya, is spreading”.

Especially in places like Portmore where the Aedes aegypti mosquito population has endless Canals of stagnant water to breed and no Western Mosquito Fish (Gambusia affinis) commonly called “Tiki-Tiki” Fish to eat their larvae as I’d mentioned in my blog article entitled “Ministry of Health attempted murder of Ocho Rios High School in St Ann by spraying Malathion - Malathion Spraying and Destroyers ban needed  and Citronella Candles and Education introduced”.

Chikungunya Virus numbers – More like 200 infected, not 25 due to inter-Regional Travel

My estimates is that the true figures as it relates to the infected are more in line with those in Trinidad and Tobago, which had surpassed 80 since Friday August 15th 2014 as stated in “As many as 80 infected with Chikungunya -- TT health minister”, published Friday, August 15, 2014 7:32 AM, The Jamaica Observer.

It was around that time that we had just reached 10 infected with the Chikungunya Virus as stated in my blog article entitled “10 Cases of Chikungunya Virus in Jamaica – How a Hurricane coming December 2014 will accelerate its spread”.

Many Jamaicans travel in and out, often going to Florida and to the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean. They may have brought back the infection long before the Ministry of Health had begun their surveillance for the disease as reported originally in my blog article entitled “Chikungunya Virus now confirmed in Jamaica - Female Traveller From Florida via Puerto Rico and How to fight Chic-V”,

Especially as no active questioning and quarantining of Travelers isn’t being done at the Airports of countries in the CARICOM region as I’d recommended in my blog article entitled “Trinidad PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar's CARICOM Meeting - Preventing Caribbean Chikungunya Virus and Ebola Virus Epidemic by Christmas 2014”.

Also, despite the danger to children, the Ministry of Health hasn’t begun the sale of subsidized DEET or Citronella Oil to parents or Primary and High Schools in a bid to give them some protection against the Aedes aegypti mosquito as originally pointed out in my blog article entitled “Education and Health Ministries Meet before 2014-15 Academic Year - How to Stop Chikungunya Virus spread by Aedes aegypti Mosquito among Children”.

Ministry of Health PR Game – Poor People Disease cannot be allowed to stop Tourism Dollar

I’m getting the impression that they’re seeing this disease that affects the poor and impoverished who live in a state of squalor and degradation. As such, blocked drains and gullies, which are the result of Jamaicans throwing garbage away that washes into the drains and gullies, is what causes the blockage of these gullies and drains.

Possibly in the eyes of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Local Government, this is the fault of the people and not their inadequate garbage collection efforts, which our Tax-dollars help to fund. Hence the stagnant water in these drains and gullies that causing the Aedes aegypti mosquito to breed unchecked are a fault of the people.

Since they have their tourist dollar to protect, they’re not so eager to report the true extent of the spread of the Chikungunya Virus, as already Canada has issued a travel advisory against Jamaica since Monday August 18th 2014 as stated in as stated in “Canada issues Chikungunya warning to travellers”, published Monday, August 18, 2014 9:48 AM, The Jamaica Observer.

With the Winter tourist season coming up, this PR stunt by the Ministry of Health in brushing the real numbers of the poor and impoverished infected with the Chikungunya Virus may just be to protect their Tourist Dollars and prevent any more countries issuing Travel advisories against Jamaica.

Based on the reasoning of Opposition Spokesman on Health Dr Kenneth Baugh observation of the GOJ’s response to the Epidemic thus far, this may really be the case. The Ebola Virus, therefore, should have no problem coming to Jamaica as I’d predicted in my blog article entitled “WHO confirms Ebola Virus outbreak in DRC different from West Africa - Ebola Virus Brothers from the same Zaire Strain Mother”.

As with such limited surveillance and control over Haitians coming into Jamaica, Africans coming here unchecked from infected West African countries isn’t such a hard thing to imagine give a GOJ that care not for the plight of the poor and impoverished.

Ben and Jerry's Bob Marley-themed Satisfy My Bowl Ice Cream flavour - 30th Anniversary Tribute to Bob Marley's Legend for his 1Love Foundation

Bob Marley can finally say they have their own Ice Cream flavor, Satisfy My Bowl, thanks to Ben and Jerry’s. Best of all, it’s for a good cause, people and a fitting tribute on what is the eve of Bob Marley’s 70th Birthday and the 30th Anniversary of his album Legend!

The New IceCream Flavour is called Satisfy My Bowl and was coined after Camilla Bishop via a competition earlier in the year to put a name to their latest flavour as stated in “BOB MARLEY INSPIRED BEN & JERRY’S FLAVORED ICE CREAM” Posted on September 4, 2014 by HOMAdmin, The House of Marley.

Satisfy My Bowl is a special blend of banana ice cream beats, caramel and cookie swirls with peace sign shaped chocolate bits on top as described in the article “Ben & Jerry’s launches special banana ice cream in tribute to Bob Marley”, published Thursday 4 Sep 2014 8:24 am, Metro and “'Legend' Album Celebrated With Ice Cream Flavour” Published Saturday September 6, 2014, The Jamaica Gleaner.

It's part of the 30th Anniversary celebration of the release of Bob Marley's Album Legend. The New Ice Cream flavour will be launched in October 2014 at a concert in the UK entitled The Legend Session.

In keeping with the spirit of the artiste, British Musicians will be invited to submit their original music for a chance to do covers of Bob Marley's Legend tracks live on stage. Once it launches, Ben and Jerry's Satisfy My Bowl will be available in the UK, Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Norway but oddly enough not in the US of A.

Proceeds from the sale of the Ice Cream Flavour will go to Bob Marley's 1Love Foundation and Partners for Youth Empowerment to empower young people in Jamaica to change the World Through Music as stated in “Ben & Jerry’s, 1Love Foundation to launch Bob Marley-inspired ice cream flavor, “Satisfy My Bowl””, published 09.03.2014, Bob Marley .

As for the unavailability in the USA, fret not Americans! A petition drive is coming to make sure that Satisfy My Bowl is available in the US of A, even if Ben and Jerry's UK have to Travel Babylon By Bus.

Peace and One Love and Happy Birthday to Bob Marley as his Legend Lives on.

ComScore predicts massive Apple iPhone 6 Upgrades - Older iPhone users like the Sapphire Screen, Aluminum body, 128GB and Bezel-free smartphone

People, it’s Apple iPhone 6 time again this year!

Come Tuesday September 9th 2014, the official launch date for the Apple iPhone 6, we’ll get to see what a Sapphire Screen, Aluminum body, 128GB and Bezel-free smartphone looks like as predicted in my blog article entitled “Apple iPhone 6 Official Invite sets Tuesday September 9th 2014 - Expect a Gold Standard 128GB Sapphire Screen with iWatch and NFC Mobile Money and BitCoin Wallet”.

Interestingly, according to research done by analyst ComScore as shown on the chart below, Apple iPhone 6 will spark a rash of upgrades, particularly among persons still toting the older Apple iPhone 3G/3GS.

1.      46% of Apple iPhone 3G/3GS
2.      43% of Apple iPhone 4
3.      40% of Apple iPhone 4S
4.      36% of Apple iPhone 5
5.      15% of Apple iPhone 5C
6.      24% of Apple iPhone 5S

Depending on if you look at the glass as being half-empty or half-full, the results can be seen as being either good or bad for Apple. On one hand, over 40% of Apple iPhone 3G/3GS, Apple iPhone 4 and Apple iPhone 4S show a desire to upgrade to the new Apple iPhone 6.

This is good as it would reduce Apple iPhone fragmentation and get those users hip to new innovative features such as iBeacon, NFC (Near Field Communication) to enable a Mobile money Wallet, support for Bitcoins and an unscratchable, unbreakable sapphire screen.

But the reluctance among the Apple iPhone 5, Apple iPhone 5C, and the Golden boot Apple iPhone 5S indicates that they’re more than satisfied with their smartphones and aren’t as eager to upgrade, especially as they JUST bought their smartphones last year.

So what do you think dear reader? Are you planning to get the Apple iPhone?

Stay tune to my blog as I’ll be doing an article on the Apple iPhone 6 when it launches on Tuesday September 9th 2014 and goes on sale on Friday September 12th 2014!
