Dr. Fenton Ferguson want Marijuana Medicine – Pharmaceutical Marijuana means big Profits and Taxes for the GOJ

Dr. Fenton Ferguson has also voiced support for the decriminalization and legalization of Marijuana (Cannabis Sativa) with benefits to the Pharmaceutical Industry in Jamaica as stated in “Health minister supports ganja use as medicine”, published Tuesday, November 26, 2013 7:12 PM, The Jamaica Observer despite the known addictive nature of Marijuana and it’s active ingredient THC (Tetra Hydro Cannabinol).

To quote Minister of Health Dr. Fenton Ferguson while responding to questions from the media on Tuesday November 26th 2013 Rotary Club of St Andrew meeting, held at the Hotel Four Seasons in Kingston: “Jamaica can’t lock off itself from the rest of the world or the research findings that are available, that is pointing to a significant number of elicits that medical marijuana is responding to, so I want that to be very, very clear, that when it comes to medical marijuana, I am fully on board”.

The public is quite pleased with the Ban on Cigarette smoking in Public places implemented on Monday July 15th 2013 as stated in my blog article entitled “Adventists want Ban on Vehicle Pollution as Smoking Ban looms on Monday July 15th 2013 - Dr. Fenton Ferguson's Escape Plan leads to All-Electric Vehicles, Bio-Fuel and Citronella Candles”.

Asthma attack Decline – Smoking Ban’ positive Effectives makes me Breathe Easier

This as there’s been a 20% decline in reported Asthma Attacks in the three (3) months in the period July 2013 to October 2013 since the Smoking Ban was imposed as stated in “Significant decline in asthma admissions since smoking ban”, published Tuesday, November 05, 2013, The Jamaica Observer and “Decline in asthma admissions in Jamaica since imposition of smoking ban”, published Thursday October 31, 2013 2:40 pm, The Jamaica Gleaner.

The good news was again reported by the ever travelling Minister of Health Dr. Fenton Ferguson at the Heart Foundation of Jamaica’s (HFJ) annual ‘Run for your Heart’ event on Tuesday October 29th 2013, at Emancipation Park in New Kingston as reported by The Jamaica Information Service in “Significant Decline in Asthma Admissions Since Smoking Ban”, published October 31, 2013 By Chris Patterson, The Jamaica Information Service.

Still more work needs to be done on the legislation. Hence the reason for the looming legal challenge as it relates to the Minister of Dr. Fenton Ferguson ability to implement the Public Health (Tobacco Control) Regulations 2013 using Section 14 and 15 of the Public Health Act. The Public Health (Tobacco Control) Regulations 2013 is guided by the 2005 WHO (World Health Organization) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.

There is also the question of the Public Health (Tobacco Control) Regulations 2013 extending itself into the homes of citizens where domestic Workers aka household helpers, who are employees, may be exposed to smoking, being as the current legislation also applies to such situations. Never mind the fact that Marijuana (Cannabis Sativa) attracts a smaller fine for being caught smoking a spliff while being caught smoking a Cigarette can land you in jail and a whopping JA$500,000 fine for the second offence.

Marijuana the miracle Plant – Taxable Revenue from the Pharmaceutical Industry

This as Marijuana (Cannabis Sativa) may yet prove to be the economic savior of Jamaica, a reason for recent Bilateral Trade Agreements signed between Jamaica and Switzerland to protect Geographic Indicators and Brand names in each of these respective countries as reported in my blog article entitled “Jamaica and Switzerland sign historic Bilateral Trade Agreement to protect Brand Names and Geographical Indicators - Escape Plan for the eventual Decriminalization and Legalization of Ganja”.

Marijuana (Cannabis Sativa) has shown promise as a cancer Fighting, HIV curing alternative to expensive Chemotherapy treatments and antiretroviral therapies as noted in my blog article entitled “Ras Puddler says Legalization of Marijuana benefits large Scale Growers - How Teenagers can Learn to Extract THC for personal Use to make Chocolate Cookie, Brownies and Sorrell Cake for Christmas”.  Hence the USA is slowly warming up to the  idea of legal Marijuana!

Hopefully this is more than just talk and is yet another signpost on the Road towards Decriminalization and Legalization of Marijuana (Cannabis Sativa).
