If you read my
article on how to unlock ANY smartphone or feature phone in my blog article
entitled “How
to unlock any phone and put it on any Network - Guaranteed to unlock any
Feature or Smartphone on the Chennai Express” then you’d have noticed it
isn’t free.
Like Duh!
As I’d mentioned in the article, this is information smartphone makers
keep close to their chest as they make money from the resale of refurbished
returned feature and smartphones in Developing World Countries after Developed
World Countries chuck them away.
If you’re a smartphone unlocker in Jamaica, you must really hate my
article. This as I’m basically giving away the websites that they use to, merely
paying as little as US$8.00 to get unlock codes and procedures for any feature
or smartphone on any Network.
Well great news; unlocking smartphones became legit in the USA on December
2013 thanks to the lobbying efforts of Americans to the President of the United
States of America and the Senate as noted in my blog article
entitled “FCC
and CTIA says Unlocking cellphones legal on Thursday December 12 2013 – Torch
Bearing Mob Petition's President and Congress thus making CTIA blink and
concede People Power”.
With that development, I’ve only got one thing to say to those peps in
Jamaica who dislike my article: hater, keep hatin’. I’ve got another
proposition for you: Free unlocking of any Feature or smartphone using a suite
of freely available software. Here’s the best known one from GSMEvolution’s website as hosted on various
other websites:
There is also specific free unlocking software for specific models of
smartphone:
There’s no Free unlocking of GSM smartphones; all of them are scam
websites. However, there are websites that charge fairly reasonable prices for
Unlocking smartphones. I’ve used them myself and combined with the software
above, they make a great set of tools to have in your Toolbag if your tight on
cash:
6. GSMLiberty
7. UnlockToTalk
9. UnlockitNow
10. CheapUnlockCodes
Finally for those professional among you that still don’t trust freeware
with ads in them (as some of the above software are ad-supported), there is a
software program called MEI Unlocker
that you can purchase. It costs US$ 19.95 (JA$ 2,140.44) and once you purchase
it from MEI Unlocker Website, you can
get lifetime updates for the latest unlock codes for new smartphones as they
come out.
Combined, these software allow you to unlock the following models of
smartphone and more:
1.
Alcatel
2.
Blackberry
3.
HTC
4.
HTC
5.
Huawei
6.
iPhone
7.
LG
8.
Motorola
9.
Nokia
10.
Pantech
11.
Sagem
12.
Samsung
13.
Sidekicks
14.
Smart Phone
15.
Sony
16.
Sony Ericsson
17.
TREO
18.
ZTE
Just as in the previous article, the tools you’ll need for this DIY (Do
It Yourself) are:
1.
Laptop or Computer completely clear of virus
(otherwise you may end up with a bricked phone)
2.
The Cable for the Feature Phone or Smartphone
3.
Faith like Noah with his family of eight
4.
A bottle of ice-cold Malta
The procedure to use the software is fairly simple:
1.
Connect the smartphone to your Laptop using the Cable for the
smartphone
2.
Backup the customer’s data. Use the procedure described in my
Geezam blog article entitled “How
to transfer Phone Contacts and Data from your Blackberry to your Apple iPhone
or Google Android smartphone or Tablet”
3.
Download the software as listed above
4.
Install the software as listed above
5.
Dial *#06# to get the Phone's 15 digit IMEI (International
Mobile Equiptment Identification) Number
6.
If you have no access, then open the Phone. Under the battery
is the 15 digit IMEI.
7.
Write down the IMEI
8.
Use an IMEI Lookup Service such as the free
use IMEI Number Database Website to determine the precise model of the phone
9.
Run the relevant software based on the model of the
smartphone determined from its 15 digit IMEI (International mobile Equiptment
Number)
10. Connect the smartphone that
you wish to unlock
11. Unlock the phone
There you have it.
Best of all, you can offer other Services such as cutting
the Micro-SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) to fit the Micro-SIM and Nano
SIM Card holders in these new smartphones as detailed in my Geezam
blog article entitled “How
to make your own Micro-SIM or Nano-SIM Card”.
As an added bonus, if you followed my procedure that means
you just unlocked a feature or smartphone and you only had to drink one bottle
of Malta and exhibit the same level of patience like Noah when he had to get
the animals into the Ark.
Happy trails unlocking smartphones, as you can make some
seriously good money doing this.
