BBM 2.0 now with Voice and Dropbox Integration – WhatsApp beaten for sure as Free File Sharing and Voice Calling result in BBM Transcendence on Android and iOS

That was quick!

BBM 2.0 is now out since Thursday February 13th 2014, just in time for Valentine’s Day! The new update BBM 2.0 is also on both the Google Play Store and the Apple iTunes Store.
With it comes Free Voice Calling, allowing members of the “In” Crowd on Apple iOS and Google Android that have BBM (Blackberry Messenger) installed to talk to each other and Blackberry 10 users as reported in “BlackBerry Boosts Its Messenger With Voice Calling, Location-Sharing”, published 2/13/2014 @ 5:59PM by Parmy Olson, Forbes and “BBM iOS, Android users can soon make free phone calls”, published February 13, 2014 8:43 AM PST by Lance Whitney, CNET News.

To be specific, BBM 2.0 comes with the following Features:

1.      BBM Voice, a new service that allows you to make Voice Calls over Wi-Fi and Data Connection (Cool!)
2.      BBM Channels a series of Discussion Groups reminiscent of Facebook Groups with specific Topic of discussion. Join in!
3.      BBM Groups, a feature that allows you to share pictures and text with a select group of 50, somewhat like Google+ via a DropBox Integration
4.      Glympse, a new feature that allows you to share your location (why I don't know) for fixed periods at a time. Reminds me of Foursquare but with an ON/OFF Button!

All Apple iOS, Google Android and Blackberry OS 10 smartphone users get this in their updates; Blackberry 5 OS and higher will get the update too sans BBM Groups and Glympse.
That’s still not a bad deal, as you can now effectively talk for Free if you have BBM!

Those still toting a Blackberry must be happy they stuck it out and didn’t chuck away their device after company went bust as reported in my Geezam blog article entitled “Blackberry sold to Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited as BBM goes free”.

BBM now with Voice and Dropbox Integration – WhatsApp being beaten for sure

To be honest, when I heard that BBM (Blackberry Messenger) was coming to Android and Apple iOS back in September 2013 as originally reported in my Geezam blog article entitled Free Blackberry Messenger App coming to Android and iOS and my blog article entitled “Blackberry launched free BBM App for Apple iPhone and Android smartphones - First true Mobile Social Network is Bob Marley Could You Be loved against WhatsApp”, I knew Voice Calling wasn’t too far behind.

BBM, when it was exclusively a Blackberry only Mobile Social Network, had rolled out this feature to make free calls over Wi-Fi back in November 2012 as stated in my blog article entitled “RIM introduce VoIP Calling over Wi-Fi for BB Messenger - Telecom Providers Trouble with the Curve of Wi-Fi Calling”, a few months before Blackberry OS 10 had been launched in January 2013.

Now that Valentine’s Day is over, if you haven’t heard the news, now is the time to get the latest updated BBM 2.0:
