After Netflix announced plans to block VPN services
as per my Geezam blog article entitled How
Netflix will block streaming via Proxies and VPN as they go Global I realized
that there is still a huge interest among my readers in free VPN's.
A VPN is just
really logging into another server in another country so as appear to be located
in that country as explained in my blog article
entitled “Surfing
the Internet Anonymously using VPN - How to use Streaming Set Top Boxes over
VPN”.
Hotspot Shield is especially popular on MICO
University Campus, as it allows MICO students to stream and download from
YouTube despite the restrictions placed on Wi-Fi access as explained in my blog article
entitled “Internet
blockade at MICO - How to use VPN and Proxy to access blocked websites”.
Most of my articles thus far, including the Netflix
article on Geezam, main tout paid VPN services. So here's a list of Free VPN
that can be used both on desktop as well as tablets and Smartphone’s as
compiled from the article “The Best Free VPN
Services for 2015”, published AUGUST 7, 2015 by Fahmida Y. Rashid, PC Magazine.
2. HideIPVPN
4. ProXPN
7. TorVPN
8. VPN Book
All offer paid versions but their free versions are
usually restricted VPN services in terms of speed and which countries you can
log into, often subsidized using advertising or other paid users. So, as I’ve
said before, going paid is your best bet!
So why would you need a VPN anyway?
Jamaicans
seeking information on VPN - Making money in a harsh economy
Jamaicans in 2016 seems to be interested in VPN for
more than just streaming Free TV as explained in my blog article entitled “Cable
Providers comply with BCJ Cable Channel Removal - How to install a VPN to
Stream American Cable Channels on your Roku”.
As that's really money going out of your pocket not
coming in as income. There are three (3) ways to make money online:
1. Working
for someone
2. Referrals
i.e. sales for some else's products
3. Selling
your creative work
All you need to have to start is the following:
1. Paypal
Account as your main Payment Gateway
2. Payoneer
Account, an International US Bank MasterCard Prepaid Debit Card
3. Scotia
VISA Debit Card or CIBC First Caribbean VISA Debit Card
4. Broadband
Internet at home, be it FLOW, Digicel or LIME
5. Notebook
or Journal to keep Track of all your Online Accounts and Passwords
6. Portfolio
of Published Written Work on a blog or Website online i.e. Blogs, e-books
7. A
VPN (Virtual Private Network) Connection
8. A
Friend or relative living abroad
Working
for someone - Surveys are fun in the Midnight hour
Jamaicans are interested in ways to work online as
if they're in the US of A, Canada or UK. Survey websites are hot as well, with
the below being just a few of those I currently know Jamaicans are using,
thanks to a tipoff from a source from a Call Center:
1. ClixSense
2. Points2 shop
Surveys are great if you have lots of spare time in
the night.
Referrals
- Selling someone else's products on your blog or website
There is also doing referrals on your blog as
explained in my MICO Wars
blog article entitled “How
Jamaicans can make Money from Referral Websites” is a very popular option.
This option works well if you have a high traffic
website, blog or even social Media page. Brands will pay you top dollar to
model and sell their products once you can demonstrate that you have great
traffic.
Selling
your creative work - Writers, YouTubers and Arts and Crafts
For those of us who love to write, you can even make
money from writing romance novels and books as explained in my MICO Wars blog article entitled
“How
Jamaicans can make money online – Content Blogging and Writing Books”.
Even colouring books are hot right now as explained
in my MICO Wars blog
article entitled
For the creative videographers among us, posting YouTube
videos is one of the fastest ways to make money online as explained in my blog article
entitled “US$750,000
for Jamaican Dancehall and Reggae Artiste on YouTube Streaming - How to drive
Traffic to your YouTube Page and make money from Advertising” is an even more lucrative way to make money
online.
You can sell your video editing skills can also be
put to great use in making Promo videos for Crowdfunding runs as explained in my
MICO Wars blog article entitled
“How
Jamaicans can use Crowdfunding for their Projects in 30 Days”.
Finally selling your items via setting up your own
website or even selling via your own online store such as Etsy or Ebay as
explained in my blog
article entitled “How
to make money as an EBay Seller online - Everything in Jamaica from Rare Coins
to Unique Craft Items”.
Driving
traffic to your Weblink – Advertising in the Sunday Classifieds locally and
abroad
No matter what method you use to make money online,
always remember to advertise your weblink using a URL shortening service in a
Sunday Classified ad, both in Jamaica as well as in the US of A via your
contact living abroad.
This as on Sunday, most people are relaxing at home
and also searching for work in the Classified Section of the Sunday Newspaper.
Bitly.com is an excellent URL shortener, with the benefit of being able to
shorten cumbersome website links and built in metrics.
The best results are achieved by doing three (3)
month long campaign of advertising, as this’ll yield the best results in terms
of generating the traffic that you require.
With so many ways a VPN can help, free VPN's are
must.
