How JEFA ‘Get Cracking’ Promotion for Increased Egg Consumption as Global Egg Industry dead by 2020

Jamaicans are not eating enough Eggs.

So the JEFA (Jamaica Egg Farmers Association) wants Jamaicans to eat more eggs in their ‘Get Cracking’ promotion as revealed in the article “Maintain Consistency in the Quality and Supply of Eggs – Samuda”, published August 13, 2016 By Denise Dennis, The Jamaica Information Service.

The ‘Get Cracking’ promotion was launched at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel in Kingston on Friday, August 12th 2016, during which Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Karl Samuda, sought to have Egg Farmers make cheaper and higher quality eggs.

The JEFA is partnering with Hi-Pro division of the Jamaica Broilers Group and USSEC (United States Soybean Export Council) to get Jamaicans to eat more eggs.  According to the JEFA, Jamaicans only eat 1 egg per week on average; they wish to increase that to seven (7) eggs a day.

I suspect that they've achieved their aim to increase Egg production to meet local demand by May 2016 as predicted in my blog article entitled “How Jamaica Egg Farmers Association's 10% increase in Jamaican Eggs coming by May 2016”, so they’re now looking for ready markets to eat the additional eggs!!

So how does the JEFA plan to get Jamaicans to basically eat seven (7) eggs out a box that contains a dozen (12) every day?

JEFA Get Cracking Promotion – Prizes to eat more Eggs as Liquid Eggs make a comeback

Well, obviously by giving people money!

The ‘Get Cracking’ promotion will encourage increased egg consumptions by rewarding Jamaicans with phone credit and shopping sprees. They can get these prizes once they text in entry codes inside of the one-dozen egg boxes.

The JEFA has also restarted the company Liquid Eggs Limited to sell liquid eggs to hotels and business and possibly regular consumers as per the article “Liquid Eggs Are Back”, Published Monday August 15, 2016, The Jamaica Gleaner

This time around, they've also increased the variety of liquid Eggs that they offer:

1.      Scrambled eggs mix
2.      Egg whites
3.      Sugared yolks

So Liquid Eggs are back. But can they compete against the growing trend of Egg substitutes made from non-chicken sources?

Egg substitutes based on Insect protein - Egg Industry demise by cheaper Egg substitutes by 2017

Hopefully, they’ll also produce powdered eggs as well, as that would have huge export potential.

This as increase competition from egg substitutes makers such as Hampton Creek may become popular as they'll be cheaper in 2017  as predicted in my blog article entitled “Hampton Creek Foods and their Plant Protein Egg Replacement – Global Egg Industry to get the Kibosh by 2017”.

Additionally Cricket and plant protein can be ground into flour that can be used in make Egg substitutes as this video explains!

Not exactly sure how we can compete when this occur, as insect are more efficient at producing protein which can be processed into other proteins as pointed out in my blog article entitled “United Nations Population Division says 11.2 billion people by 2100 - Why Africa and India Population exploding as Insect Meat is coming”.

Making egg production cheaper may not be possible as raising chickens is a money intensive farming activity. So I’m predicting that by 2020, the Egg Industry will be dead as Egg Substitutes based on Insect Protein will make Eggs from chickens an obsolete concept!

I suspect this may be the long-term outlook of the JEFA, as they know the end is near……
