If
you want to take a quick look into the future as to what's coming in Christmas
2015, you only have to look to the Trade shows in the Far East. By far the most
popular of those Trade Shows is the Computex
Trade Show in Taipei, Taiwan.
Asus
seems to already have a foot in the door as it relates to the future, as
they've outed some products that showcase their forward thinking style. Windows
10 from Microsoft is coming on Wednesday July 29th 2015 as stated in
the article “Windows
10: release date, price, news and features”, published June 8th 2015 by Joe
Osborne, Techradar but Asus already has
products using Windows 10.
One
of those products is a part of the popular Transformer line, the Asus
Transformer Book T100HA hybrid laptop as described in the article “Asus
Transformer Book T100HA Preview”, published 1 June 2015 by Seamus Byrne, CNET News.
Albeit
this product isn't out as yet, the specs look really good.
10.1" Asus
Transformer Book T100HA hybrid laptop – Cherry Trail leads to a Windows 10
Chromebook
The
10.1" Asus Transformer Book T100HA hybrid laptop, like its predecessors,
is really a Tablet with a detachable keyboard with an overall Laptop form-factor.
Silky smooth to the touch and super slim at 8.45 mm, it weighs in at 580 g and
comes in four (4):
1. Silk
White
2. Tin
Grey
3. Aqua
Blue
4. Rouge
Pink
10.1”
Asus Transformer Book T100HA hybrid laptop runs Windows 10 on a much improved
Intel Atom “Cherry Trail” X5 series Processor supported by 4 Gb RAM. The 10.1” screen is an impressive 1,280x800
pixels and might be touch-enabled.
10.1” Asus Transformer
Book T100HA hybrid laptop – Chromebook killer with 15” Macbook Pro stylings
But
what has me surprised is the fact that the 10.1” Asus Transformer Book T100HA
hybrid laptop has more in common with the recently updated 15” Apple Macbook
Pro as described in “Apple
updates 15-inch MacBook Pro with Force Touch and the 27-inch 5K Retina iMac
with a lower starting price", published May 19, 2015, by Dan Ackerman,
CNET News.
That
is, it has a USB 3.1 Type-C port and also sports an impressive 14 hour battery
life. It might possibly have other features that will be revealed when a full
review of the product comes out.
So
far, however, it has a lot in common with the BYOMD (Bring Your Own Mouse Display)
US$319 Pavilion Mini and the US$179 Stream Mini desktops as detailed in my blog article
entitled “US$319
Pavilion Mini and the US$179 Stream Mini - Microsoft Windows 8.1 Desktop with
OneDrive Cloud that's a Chromebox killer”.
But
at possible price point trending below US$400, this jack-of-all-trades Asus
Transformer Book T100HA hybrid laptop looks like yet another Windows based
Chromebook killer.
Look
for this product coming in the Fourth Quarter 2015.
