A
lot can happen in a year in Social Media, especially the Mobile Social
Networking World.
A
year ago, little known Mobile Social Network Kik hit 100 million registered
members after three (3) years in
existence as I’d reported in my blog article
entitled “@Kik hits the 100 million member mark - Open Source Mobile Rise to develope Defense Against the Dark Arts of Google+”.
Now
nearly a year on they’re celebrating yet another achievement, that be being
selected as one of Deloitte Canada's 2014 “Companies to Watch” for a second
year in a row as stated on their blog post “Kik: a Canadian Company
To Watch!” Published November 14, 2014, Kik Blog.
Since
then they’ve also grown by another 50 million subscribers to a total of 150
million registered users. At that rate, they've already more than passed the
56.9 million projected Twitters users in the US of A based
on the statistics presented by Social Media Analyst Statistica.
And
they're still improving as well.
The
Kik Messenger team on Thursday November 6th
2014 announced more than twenty five (25) Services, Products and Brands had taken
up the their Promoted Chats which is basically advertising based on certain
keywords mentioned more frequently among Kik users as noted in their blog post “Kik
Launches Promoted Chats Keywords for More Personalized Chats”, published
November 6, 2014, Kik Blog.
More
recently on Thursday November 13th 2014, they'd improved the way in which
Kik Users can share photos as stated in their blog post “Improved Photo Sharing, Now on
Kik!”, published November 13, 2014, Kik Blog.
When you tap the + sign within conversations, you can post recent photos to populate
the screen, with a tap of the Maximize icon and then the drop down arrows
allows you to select another album.
Even
inside of a conversation, you can access the camera, snap photos and share them
instantly with your friends. These slight tweaks don't restrict you from accessing
your Stickers, Memes and Sketches on your Kik Cards within your conversation as
it’s merely a matter of swiping right within the Media Tray of tapping the Web
Icon to find more Kik Cards.
Kik Messenger at 150
million users – Kik me Please with Love from the Canadian with the Golden Gun
So
is the Kik Messenger the latest Social Media Craze
from Canada that's slowly going global and is on a path to take over the throne
from Twitter?
At
this rate, the Developer powered Kik Messenger
with its customized Open Source Kik Cards displaying Games, Stickers and other
content. Explains its growing popularity as it’s now cool for Teenagers (ages
13 to 17) and Millennials (ages 18 to 28) to say “kik me please at
”!
They
may even be competition to another Canadian export, BBM (BlackBerry Messenger),
who might be a bit harder to beat as they’ve upped their game with Timed and
Retracted Messages as reported in my blog article
entitled “BBM's
Timed and Retracted Messages - How to retrieve Nude Selfies on BBM's take on
Snapchat with Improved HD Pictures, BBM Sticker and BBM Music Discovery”.
Still,
congratulations are in order for the Canadian company for being selected yet
again as a Company to Watch as their 150 million users, mostly Teenagers (ages
13 to 17) and Millennials (ages 18 to 28) say “kik me please” to the Canadian Man with the
Golden Gun.
