Digicel launched Top Up App for the Smartphone Crowd - Great addition to Digicel Zero

“The response from our customers has been overwhelming. Since our initial soft launch in November last year, we have over 200,000 downloads and our customers continue to tell us how the App fits their lifestyle – topping up themselves or sending top up to family in the Caribbean on-the-go no matter where they are, or what time it is.”

CEO Digicel Diaspora, Declan Cassidy, commenting on the launch of the Digicel Top Up App

Digicel, on Thursday May 7th 2015 has finally stepped into the Smartphone age by making their own custom Top Up app.

I'm of courses referring to the Digicel Top Up App which makes it super convenient for family and friend abroad to send you credit as reported in the Press Release entitled “Digicel launches convenient Top Up App for customers abroad and in the Caribbean”, published 2015-05-07 Digicel, Go-Jamaica.

This Digicel Top Up App is truly free and is available for download in from the Apple iTunes and Google Play Store respectively. There are no transaction fees for your relatives abroad to pay when sending credit to your Digicel smartphone. It also appears that Digicel may have a hit on their hands, as the app has been downloaded by some 200,000 on the day it was announced.

Truly a free and convenient service in every way possible and is a great addition  to their Digicel Zero product as described in my blog article entitled “Digicel launches Digicel Zero - How @Digicel_jamaica is testing VoLTE vs @WhatsApp's Free Voice Calling to boost smartphone sales”.

You'll also like the advertising campaign, which involves a radio advertisement featuring Tessanne Chin trumpeting the convenience and benefits of the Digicel Top Up App. There is also a French and creole featuring popular Haitian compass band, Carimi, suggesting that Digicel is tapping into the Caribbean Diaspora, not just Jamaica alone.

The Digicel Top Up App will also make it easier for local to send each other credit, that is, once you have a VISA Debit Card of CIBC VISA Debit Card as explained in my blog article entitled How to purchase items and subscribe to Magazines online and ship them to Jamaica, as this Digicel Top Up App only accepts money from Credit or Prepaid Debit Cards.

Still, it's more convenient for the smartphone crowd to keep their Data Plans going so they are never out of access to the Internet on their smartphone.
