If
you live on Twitter like me, then you'd heave realized that since January 2015,
Twitter has been on a roll!
They've
rolled out the ability to send 30-second Videos and Group DM (Direct Messages),
a boon for users of Tweetdeck as noted in my blog article
entitled “Twitter
rolls out Group DM and 30 Second Vines - How TweetDeck's Scheduled Tweets now
with Group DM is addictive”.
Then
in April 2015, they suddenly made it possible for trolls to contact you
directly, albeit their joy will be short lived as you can block them quite easily
as described in my blog article
entitled “How
to Send a DM to someone on @Twitter you are not following – Troll’s Joy is
hanging by a Thread”.
But
what about Games?
Looks
like Twitter has you covered as now you can play classic arcade games from the Internet
Archive's Software Library list of MS-DOS Games in-between your tweets as
noted in “How
to embed playable MS-DOS games in your tweets”, published April 29, 2015 by
Claire Reilly, CNET News.
Good
to note here that this is strictly a smartphone trend as noted in the article “Embedding
classic MS-DOS games into tweets is now a thing”, published Thursday 30
April 2015 by Samuel Gibbs, The UK
Guardian; it doesn’t seem to work on desktop versions of Twitter, or at least
mot at the time of writing this article.
Ok,
so now this attack on worker productivity is now trending, what is the Internet Archive and why have they decided to unleash
this evil upon humanity?
Internet Archive’s 900
Arcade Games now playable within Twitter – Worker Productivity to Suffer
The
Internet Archive is a huge repository of old
websites that have been archived as part of creating a living history of the
Internet that anyone can access and view.
Their
Internet
Archive's Software Library list of MS-DOS Games is a sizeable collection of
some nine hundred (900) Arcade Video Games that are worth playing as noted in my
blog article
entitled “Internet
Archive's 900 Classic Arcade Games – 30 years of Free Arcade Game with retro
CTRL-ALT-SPACE and Arrow Keys Button Masher Action”.
Now
the joy's coming to Twitter, at least for smartphone users, thanks to the quick
eyes at Wired Magazine as noted in their article “Turns out you can
embed Playable MS-Dos Games in your Tweets”, published 04.29.15 by Chris
Kohler, Wired.
How to embed playable
MS-DOS Games in Twitter from Internet Archive - Gaming Between the Tweets
To
enable simply do the following:
1.
Go to the Internet
Archive's Software Library: MS-DOS Games
2.
Click on the game you’d like to play
3.
Drag the URL into your Twitter feed
4.
Post the Tweet
The
game becomes instantly playable in a manner no different from a GIF or a Vine,
effectively killing worker productivity globally as Twitter now become a Retro
Gamer's paradise as noted in the article “You
can now play thousands of classic DOS games on Twitter. Goodbye, productivity”,
published 30 Apr 2015 by Alexander J Martin, The Register.
Explains
why Twitter has now grown to 300 million active users, albeit it's not going to
help their bottom line as noted in the article “Twitter
reaches 300 million active users, investor expectations not met”, published
April 29, 2015 By Jose Alvarez, DigitalTrends
and “Twitter
reaches 300 million active users, but the stock crashes after earnings leak
early”, published April 28, 2015 By
Chris Welch and Ben Popper, The Verge.
So,
since this news dropped, how productive has your day been? For me, this is absolutely
fabulous!
