Digicel has launched the DL700, an upgrade to the DL600 on Friday December 6th 2013

Look like I’ve been living under a rock for quite awhile! Folks introducing the Digicel DL700 aka Alcatel One Touch Pop C3 that’s coming this Christmas as an optional Stocking Stuffer!

Just yesterday Friday December 11th 2013, Digicel Jamaica launched an update to the very popular Digicel DL600 smartphone which is now free now that the Dragons of House Targaryan, Blackberry are dead as stated in my blog article entitled “Digicel officially launches DL600 smartphones on Friday October 18th 2013 and JA$100 2-Day Data Plans - Ours is the Fury as Digicel’s DL600 secures their Throne in this Game of Phones against LIME”.

And the name new phone on his Naming Day? Telecom Provider Digicel dubbed it….you guessed it….the Digicel DL700 as per Digicel Jamaica’s Official Product Page for the DL700

This is the video on Digicel Jamaica YouTube channel that I saw Friday December 11th 2013 I dug up after seeing it originally on Prime Time News on Television Jamaica. Pricing as shown below folks, if you’re too “idle” to check out the Digicel Jamaica’s Official Product Page for the DL700!

It also explains the increased traffic to my blog article above as Jamaicans may have heard the news and are now banging away on the Internet asking question about pricing, availability and like me, searching for information on this new Smartphone!

Game of Phones indeed, as right now Telecom Provider LIME has no smartphone that’s competitive to the DL600 or DL700 in terms of specs save for the Huawei Y210D and the Huawei Y300, for which I’m doing reviews a little later!

Apparently this is also Digicel Jamaica answer to Telecom Provider LIME making a poor imitation copy of their store and selling cheap unbranded Huawei smartphones as reported in my blog article entitled “LIME rolls out Redesigned Main Store at Carlton Crescent in a 2 Year Battle against Digicel - Digicel still dangerous with cheaper Data, the DL600 smartphone and Postpaid Digihome”.

Digicel DL700 already launched in Trinidad and Tobago – More YouTube Gold from Digicel

Again, as was the case with the DL600 as noted in my blog article entitled “Digicel to launch the DL600 smartphone in Jamaica on Thursday 30th or Friday 31st of May 2013 - Digicel DL600 is coming Fast and Furious 6 to make smartphones accessible to all”, Telecom Provider Digicel has already launched the smartphone in other Caribbean Territories.

Specifically they’ve launched in Trinidad and Tobago and British Virgin Islands almost 2 weeks ago based on their Official Product Pages on Digicel Trinidad and Tobago and Digicel British Virgin Islands. Looks like I’ll have to start following Lisa on Digicel T&T YouTube Page as her ad is way more informative, not to mention nice to listen to her “singing” Trini Voice!

The Prices for the DL700 on the Official Product Pages on Digicel Trinidad and Tobago are as shown below:

Similarly the prices on the Official Product pages of Digicel British Virgin Islands are as shown below:

Digicel DL700 is the Alcatel One Touch Pop C3 – Digicel’s latest Unicorn may be hard to catch

Based on these adverts and official Webpage postings, it’s safe to conclude that the DL700 is the Alcatel One Touch Pop C3 as shown on Alcatel’s Official Product page, based on the Product Dress i.e. its physical appearance. The Alcatel One Touch Pop C3 is part of the French phone maker Alcatel’s “Pop C” smartphone line that popped up in September 2013 at the IFA 2013 Conference in Berlin Germany and so far has a total of three (3) other siblings:

The official name for the Alcatel One Touch Pop C3 is the Alcatel One Touch Pop C3 4033A and the Alcatel One Touch Pop C3 4033X and comes in dual-SIM flavours, the Alcatel One Touch Pop C3 4033D and the Alcatel One Touch Pop C3 4033E.

The intended launch date was rumoured to be some time in December 2013. Apparently Telecom Provider Digicel has snagged a deal with Alcatel to basically get a few branded units for retails, a move that may mark Alcatel’s slow return to the smartphone arena.

Like everyone else, come Saturday December 7th 2013 I’ll have to go to my nearby Digicel Store in New Kingston to make enquiries and scope of a glimpse of Digicel’s latest Unicorn. I say “Unicorn” as judging by the furor created by the last launch, this’ll be in short supply and stocks will be limited.

Clearly this is a better smartphone than the DL600; I just wanna know what the prices are in the Retail Stores. Until then, keep tracking ad postings on Digicel Jamaica YouTube channel as well as Digicel T&T YouTube Page!

Stay tuned to my blog as well as the Geezam Blog for more Details!
