WhatsApp is now one-third the size of Facebook - Mobile Social Messaging American Hustler faces competition from the Rising Tide of Blackberry Messenger as they Herald Facebook's Death

“WhatsApp has just 50 employees, and most of us are engineers. We've arrived at this point without spending a dollar on targeted ads or big marketing campaigns”

CEO Jan Koum in a Blog post with regards to the 400 million member Milestone

They are now 400 million members strong, basically one third of the size of Facebook and adding members at a rate of roughly 100 million per months on as stated in the article “WhatsApp now chats up 400M people each month”, published December 19, 2013 10:41 AM PST by Jennifer Van Grove, CNET News.

The official blog post can be read on WhatsApp’s Blog in their most recent post “400 Million Stories”, published December 19, 2013 by Jan Koum, WhatsApp Blog! Most impressive as Facebook now at some 1.2 billion Actives users as chronicled in my Geezam blog article entitled “Facebook is Growing Strong with 1.15 Billion Active users in the Second Quarter of 2013”.

Engineering at its best – Word-of-mouth Viral Marketing Advertising Dollars can’t buy

Most impressive is that they did this over a period of 2 years with only 50 engineers; no marketing staff and a no real Marketing save for word of mouth. They’d previously beaten Twitter 200 million active users back in April 2013 as Americans fall in love with Smartphone and messaging and eschew Instant Messaging as stated in my blog article entitled “CTIA reports a 5% decline in US Texting as Instant Messaging ramps up - WhatsApp's now Top Gun as The Dead Zone leads Star Trek Into the Darkness”.
More proof that not only is Facebook slowly being killed off by Mobile Social Messaging companies but the spread of smartphones is also the fuel for these upstarts such as the recently released BBM (Blackberry Messenger) as stated in my blog article entitled “Blackberry Messenger is Most Downloaded in November 2013 and is poised to beat WhatsApp - BBM is now on the Rising Tide of the Mobile Social Messaging Network Summer of Love”.

Death of Facebook at the hands of the Rising Tide of Mobile Social Media on smartphones

Throw in their eventual coming demise in 2016 at the hands of Google+ as stated in my blog article entitled “Google+ is expanding rapidly and is set to beat Facebook by 2016 - Batman the Dark Knight Rises as the new Social Network King”.

Their recent attempts to appease Teenagers (ages 13 to 17) and Millennials (ages 18 to 28) as concluded in my blog article entitled “Winter is Coming as Google+ is on a collision course to beat Facebook by 2016” is an indication of how bad it has gotten as their attempts to clone Snapchat have failed.
Now they’re losing all of their sharp carnassials teeth like an old Wolf in the Appalachian Rockies! Eventually, a younger pack of wolves will finish them off and WhatsApp is the alpha male that’s leading the pack. Facebook’s days are numbered, just like Blackberry as surmised in my blog article entitled “Blackberry being rescued by former co-CEO Mike Lazaridis - Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited is Fire and Blood as BBM goes free”.

Folks, bear witness to the Death of Facebook at the hands of the Rising Tide of Mobile Social Media on smartphones, be they Apple iPhones or Google’s Android army!
