Digicel completes Caribbean-wide Submarine Fiber Optic Acquisitions - 4G LTE launch of Caribbean Streaming TV

“In our data-hungry world, we are committed to ensuring we deliver innovative products and services to our valued customers. This latest acquisition grants us significant additional submarine fibre capacity, which in turn means we can help our customers achieve their personal and business goals through advanced solutions and multimedia experiences on multiple devices”

CEO Digicel Group Colm Delves commenting on the completed acquisition of a Submarine Fiber Optic Network

Telecom Provider Digicel has finally completed their Grand Design for a Caribbean-Wide Submarine Fiber Optic Network.

This as they’ve completed their acquisition of Guadeloupe-based Loret Group and Caribbean Fibre Holdings and their Caribbean Wide Fiber Optic Network, giving Digicel for the first time their own Fiber Optic Network as stated in the article “Digicel finalizes Fiber network purchase”, Published Sunday September 14, 2014, The Jamaica Gleaner.

This is VERY significant folks!

This Caribbean-wide Submarine Fiber Optic Network comprises 2 separate purchases:

1.      Guadeloupe-based Loret Group and Caribbean Fibre Holdings that gives them 12 segments and spans 12 Caribbean countries some 2100 km across from Trinidad and Tobago along the Leeward Islands to the Windward Islands up to Puerto Rico

2.      Global Caribbean Fibre and Global Caribbean Network that gives them 3 segments  and spans 3 Countries from Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico and Jamaica and eventually onto to the United States of America

In all this acquisitions results in a grand 15 segments of Submarine Fiber Optic Network connecting the entire Caribbean. This will allow them to bypass having to route Voice Calling over their own Submarine Fiber Optic Cables.

It also create a Regional Fiber Optic Network to connect their Cable TV acquisition thus Stream Cable TV via the 4G LTE Network they're building islandwide as detailed in my Geezam blog article entitled “Digicel Turks and Caicos thinks Streaming over 4G LTE by buying Cable TV Internet Provider”.

Digicel Submarine Fiber Optic Acquisitions - 4G LTE launch of Caribbean Streaming TV

A process of acquisitions that began back in November 2013, they’re recently finalized the acquisition of Telstar Cable on Thursday September 11th 2014 as stated in my blog article entitled “Digicel officially acquires Telstar Cable – Why Digicel is launching IPTV Streaming over 4G LTE using 20 Years of Cable TV History”.

It's kinda slowly coming into focus; RJR Communications Group's anticipating competition from Telecom Provider Digicel using Streaming Cable TV, which explains their launch of TVJ Everywhere in October 2014 as stated in my blog article entitled “RJR Communications Group Launching TVJ Everywhere - How Streaming TVJ Everywhere will boost Advertising Revenue as Digicel and LIME TV coming”.

So with the acquisition of this Caribbean-wide Submarine Fiber Optic Cable, will Telecom Provider Digicel launch Streaming Cable TV over 4G LTE to compete against Triple Play Provider FLOW and LIME TV Regionally? It might be as soon as December 2014 or even later in 2015, but with 4G LTE and FTTH possibly coming Caribbean-wide, Telecom Provider Digicel may be packaging it with a Streaming Cable TV option in the Wings.
