Look
like a new Surface 3 Tablet is on the horizon, folks!
This
as the Surface 2 Tablet just got a US$100 price cut from ALL versions of what I
often refer to as Microsoft forgotten Tablet as stated in “Microsoft
Surface 2 Price Drops $100; Is a Replacement Coming?”, published August 25,
2014 by Ed Hardy, TabletpcReview
and “Microsoft
cuts Surface 2 prices by $100”, published Aug 25, 2014 6:20 AM by Ian Paul.
PCWorld...
I
say “forgotten” as in doing an article on Microsoft’s upgrade of the Surface 2
Pro Tablet to the Surface Pro 3 Tablet that’s a capable Apple iPad and Apple
MacBook Air killer as explained in my blog article
entitled “Microsoft
launches Surface Pro 3 - Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 puts Kibosh on Tablets with
Apple having to make a larger Keyboard iPad”.
I
completely forgot they also had Tablets as well! These Tablets, called Surface
Tablets, are the RT step-cousins of the Microsoft Surface Pro 2, which got
upgraded on Tuesday May 20th 2014 to the Microsoft
Surface Pro 3. But will it be sporting Windows 9 and any new hardware?
Microsoft Surface 3 –
US$100 off on Tablets that’s packing Microsoft Office 2013
The
10.6” Surface 2 Tablet runs Windows 8.1 RT unlike its failed and now
discontinued Surface Pro 2. 10.6” Surface 2 Tablet has Microsoft Office 2013
though, which is a lot less cumbersome to use that Microsoft Office on the
Apple iPad as I'd announced in my Geezam blog
article entitled “Microsoft
to introduce Office to Apple iPad on Thursday March 27th 2014”.
The
Price cut will be as follows:
1. US$399
for the 32GB Model
2. US$449
for the 64GB Model
3. US$579
for the 64GB Model with built in LTE
Microsoft and the
Surface 3 – September 30th 2014 is Core M 14nm Processors Guinea Pig
So
with this price decrease, when will the new Surface 3 Tablet, most likely
sporting the Core M 14nm Processors codenamed Broadwell as I’d explained in my blog article
entitled “Intel
Core M Processor codenamed Broadwell –
How Fanless, Smaller and Thinner proves that If Life Gives you Lemons,
Make Lemonade”, be coming out?
Most
likely on Tuesday September 30th 2014, the day everyone is expecting
Microsoft to launch the replacement to Windows 8, dubbed Windows 9 as stated in
“Windows
9 unveiling set for September 30, report says”, published August 21, 2014
10:34 AM PDT by Don Reisinger, CNET News.
I’ve
been hearing about Windows 9 of late since February 2014 as stated in the
article “Microsoft
preps Windows 'Threshold' preview for late September”, published August 15,
2014 8:12 AM PDT by Mary Jo Foley, CNET News
but I’ve pretty much ignored it.
But
if this new hardware will possibly be featuring the Core M 14nm Processors,
then it’s yet another date to mark on my calendar as September 2014 is now
becoming the most busy month on Silicon Valley’s Calendar.
